  1. I’m running on an older iMac G3 500mHz and with this latest update safari seems to have a problem loading as quickly as it has before, any ideas? I’m getting tire of watching the icon bounce about 14 times in the dock.

  2. I had to trash Pithhelmet to get Safari to load without crashing. Now I keep losing my cursor, but only in the very top left of the window, sometimes , after a short time, where the arrow should be, the little hand pointer appears. If I restart Safari the problem goes away for about 2 minutes. If I switch to IE the problem goes away, and comes right back with Safari.

  3. Woah, here’s a weird one. When I just updated to 10.3.9 and opened up safari, it put all the default bookmarks on there with my normal ones. SO I had .Mac, Amazon, a news folder, etc. Did this happen to anyone else? (I just deleted them.

  4. Thanks, Andy C – option right click
And overall I can say that performance is improved…a nagging problem was that the screensaver somehow affected Safari, now this doesn’t happen, I can leave Safari open as long as I want! can’t wait for 10.4!

  5. I’ve noticed a couple of differences in Safari. LIke others, I had a number of “default” bookmarks show up (.Mac. Apple, Yahoo and eBay). It appears that they’ve added better CSS support for cursors. It also appears that they’ve done something maps.google.com doesn’t care for. (Try entering your zip code and the word “books” and you’ll find that none of the results get listed in the right side bar.)

Has anyone found a complete list of the CSS changes they made?

  6. this is too funny.. can anyone else get acquisition to work? maybe it’s not working cuz of the firewall huh?

that would be very Bill Gates if Apple made it so Acquisition doesn’t work..

    though it’s not exactly legit..

  7. “got it working.. PHEW.. okay.. thanks to the macfixit guys.. you have to go back and redownload a 2005 security update which will put java back in..” [Mike]

Thanks Mike, for putting me on the track to repair. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

After the 10.3.9 update I couldn’t start Azureus (a Java app). From the Macfixit-site I chose to try just the earlier 2005 security update at:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/securityupdate2005002macosx1034orlater.html

    It worked perfectly.

I must say – seeing the barrage on Java-related problems – that there have been ‘easier’ MacOSX updates…
