“According to numerous reports, Apple has recently provided its developers with Mac OS X 10.4 ‘Tiger’ build 8A414. The 2.29 GB seed was accompanied by a pair of seed notes, one for the operating system itself and another for HiToolbox, sources said,” AppleInsider reports.
“Mac OS X 10.4 ‘Tiger’ is rapidly approaching Gold Master status, which it should reach within the next two weeks. AppleInsider believes reports pertaining to an April 1st announcement of Tiger’s completion are indeed accurate. Earlier in the year, extremely reliable sources had mentioned a ‘major announcement’ that Apple was planning on its 26th anniversary as a corporation. We believe Tiger will be a large part of this announcement,” AppleInsider reports.

“Apple plans ‘major announcement’ on April 1st anniversary”
Well that should kick the regular April Fools’ stupidity well into hyperdrive. Forget the rumor mills, it’d probably be safer predicting what WOULDN’T be announced.

What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

I sent Apple a letter today saying that they should give any Mac Mini users a discount on the purchase of Tiger or just give us free copies. For us new switchers, it isn’t going to sit well if we have to pay another fee to Apple.
Just my two cents.
Well “Prince Kahleeb” Apple has never hidden the fact that 10.4 was coming in the first half of 2005. If you expect it for free you should have waited until to buy a new mac when the option is available to you.
Thats just common sense.
Now the joke is “Tiger” will cost $666.66 like the first Apple computer was.
Laugh now.
Expect a unannounced across the board 10% discount at all Apple Stores Friday night, April 1st.
No fooling either. Just like the “Night of the Panther”
Bring cash or credit cards, no checks, mo’s or bank checks as they can’t verifiy them at night.
They won’t “hold” your order until the check clears either in most cases. I got very lucky because I’m a celeb.
Come onnnnn, Prince Kahleeb! How cheap can you be? I mean really, what de hell do you want — a new computer and the latest and greatest operating system?! Hey, hey, heyyyy. You know . . . I once had a girlfriend as cheap as you. Yess. That bitch used to re-use de Kleenex, she was so cheap! I mean, she was cheaper than Conan, fercryin out loud! No, I keed. I keed de Prince. Hey, wait a minute!Kaleeb? Kaleeb? I know that name!! Yess! You still owe me money from de last time we bought the virus-writing software to use against our PC neighbors!! You remember — we infected them all over the cable modem. It was such fun. And so EASY! Kaleeb, come onnnnn, buddy. Pay up! You don’t want me to have to poop on you!
Woohoo! It’s my bday too! Thanks Apple!
Are you, Andy Dick?
cuz if you are, then i saw you at an apple store once, and if you are another celeb, I still saw andy dick at an apple store once.
you were born on april fools day?
wonder what those birthday parties were like…
Prince Khaleeb,
You don’t have to upgrade to OS X 10.4 Tiger. I see plenty of Macs at the Genius Bar every day running OS X 10.1 Puma and 10.2 Jaguar. Keep your money. You don’t need spotlight anyway. And you should consider yourself lucky if you have one friend to iChat AV with let alon 4 (or 10 for audio-only)

Not exactly the attitude you want to display to previous PC owners that switched. Apple absolutely needs to offer at the very least a discount. PC owners hate the feeling of running an “obsolete” product, especially if they only purchased a Mini three or so months before this Tiger release.
biggyG,
PC owners have to be used the to feeling of running an “obsolete” product just three months after purchase by now. There isn’t a 3 month period that goes by that the top of the line system for Dell, Gateway, and all the others isn’t updated. Therefore their systems are just as “obsolete” as a mini would be without running Tiger. That is to say, not obsolete at all.
That’s right .. us ex pcers are used to getting things cheap you hear ..
cheap … Why should we have to pay for the future development of the worlds greatest OS when we could still be using PC’s for a lot CHEAPER
How come Apple Isn’t CHEAP like my old PC? What … you mean somebodys gotta pay for this advanced technology .. no way man … I want it for free .. and I want it right NOW!
Apple you lied to me … I though the mini was a good cheapo machine .. and reflected your new good cheapo mindset … HUH! Well EXCUUUUUUUUSE MEEE!
Bunch of whining losers. You don’t even know what Apple will do to accommodate recent buyers. Why not wait a couple of weeks. You’ll have plenty of time to after Tiger’s released, and maybe there will even be more things to complain about. Jeez.
… and 10.4.1 before April 15.
Hey former PC users, please don’t complain about having to pay for an upgrade. At least when you purchase the upgrade, it will install smoothly on your new Mac. Remember all those awful “upgrades” you went through on Windoze? Remember having to format your drive and reinstall everything from scratch cause we can’t figure out how to make an upgrade that works? Remember having to buy a new PC every time a newer version of Windows came out cause it was easier than installing the new version? Enjoy the smooth, painless, quick, easy upgrade to Tiger, which will be worth the price for not having to ask everyone you know how to install it.

10.0 = $129
10.1 = $129
10.2 = $129
10.3 = $129
10.4 = $129
10.5 = $129
10.6 = $129
10.7 = $129
10.8 = $129
10.9 = $129
$1,290 dollars for the same rehashed software…
biggyG..
er.. actually, this isn’t a free upgrade.. this is big huge leap forward for OSX, and likely, the Mac mini was timed so that ex-PC users WOULD get Tiger.. in other words, more Tiger sales…
Did i mention this isn’t a freakin’ service pack.. you don’t have to pay for Tiger if you don’t wanna spend 129 bucks.. but eventually you’ll want to join the party..
Marry, in a lot of ways OS X is similar to Beethoven symphonies: generally better written than their contemporaries, and the essentials are the odd-numbered ones!! ha-ha!!
That being said, I’d hate to break up the set… as they say on the CB, “10-4, good buddy!”
I probably shouldn’t type after drinking heavily…

Actually check you “facts” those were not the correct prices first of all and secondly each update included tons of new features I thought were worth every penny I paid.
Secondly, if you don’t want to upgrade you don’t have to, lots of people still use older versions of OS X and never use or need the features that came in later releases.
Heck, I know people happily using OS 8!
Will be on Bittorrent within minutes of release. Who can’t afford that?
if trolls are back then it must be true: Tiger is going to be announced.
Thanks for confirming that Marry Go.
