“As widely rumored, today, Apple released an iPod with color screen that synchronizes digital images as well as music. It’s called simply: iPod Photo,” Joe Wilcox writes for Microsoft Monitor. “I think Microsoft and some of its competitors could learn some lessons from Apple

The major difference is Apple is adding features they believe customers can use. SJ will put video in the iPod when he think there is a proper way to view it. I personally like the idea of video out to tv (for my kids in the car), the iPod photo is moving in the right direction.
Sure there are some things missing (equilizer) but other players pack as many “features” as they can fit in their box without any real thought of usefuleness.
The iPod with video (video playback on TV) will arrive when H.264/AVC arrives in Tiger/iLife and other Apple software. It’s coming; no doubt about it.
The upgraded Airport Express for video will arrive around the same time. Where’s the Airport Express for photos?
Personally, the names of products don’t bother me. Microsoft could create the mPod (easy descriptive name) and it would still suck. Too, they could come up with the Microsoft Enterprise Edition Personal Lawn Care Software Solution, and if it did what it was supposed to do then that would be fine.
Unfortunately, they don’t get either side right – their names suck and their products suck.
MicroStuffed, learn from Apple ?
You mean steal don’t you.
I think vidPod will be the next big release. 80gig video iPod within the next 12 months. Damn I’ve been waiting sooo long for a 60giger and now that it’s here, and with the advent of Tiger and the new H.264..? codec, I just know that I will be one of those who’d feel shafted if bought one only to have something I realy wanted come out a few months later. Even a year’s not that long these days. All you people who constanly upgrade you’re ipods to the next version, where is this secret money pit at ?
MS has already chosen, and they are wrong.

when they see a huge Digital Video penetration.. or else where’s the content gonna come from?
Downloading Movies.. eh.. maybe, but it would be better if you could Rip DVD’s Legally.. using iMovie.. then we’d see an iPod Video (or iPod V, not to be confused with 5, as in 5th generation)
Steve talks about so many people with digital cameras sharing their photos. Coudn’t the same thing be said about people with camcorders sharing their home videos?
