  1. I do wonder what the problem might be with Canada. I mean, APple isn’t going to neglect any market if they can help it. I wonder if there just isn’t enough reward for the cost of doing business there….

Whatever it is, I do feel your pain and hope Apple can work something out soon!

  2. It will be interesting to see what burden (cost) these local stores will involve … Each store is localized for local content and offers, this means that local staff is required for each. We already know that margins are razor thin in the sale of songs which means that the critical mass of sales required is huge. I am not sure that small markets like austria, Italy and greece will actually generate this critical mass.

The implication is that although it is great that they are adding all these stores the profits of iTMS will actually go down leading to a lower stock price … Not that the price will go down .. needless to say it will go up due to irrational euphoria.

  3. nice nice, I think of the countries don’t make sense when australia as a country has a bigger demand of users than in some of those small countries(austria, greece & italy) but who knows they prolly know about their business than i’ll ever know. Congrats to all the users in those countries, enjoy enojoy.

  4. Dave, you must be english! Only the English manage to always get screwed on the price of … everything. Think Cars, The Tube, Taxis … not to mention London Restaurants!!

Glad that apple has given you a positive arbitrage opportunity … I imagine UK stroe will suffer a bit!

  6. Java, spot on. I’m as English as a rained off Cricket match.

And you forgot we also pay 3 a pint for beer (about US$5.50). Why do you think we’re all emigrating to the Mediterranean?

  7. to those without ITMS-

It’s not a big deal. people with ITMS will download a couple of cd’s, a few singles here and there, and in a couple of months be bored with it. i’ve been able to use the store since day one. i’ve spent about 45$ there. the last song i bought was “tiny” by phish back in june only because it didn’t come on the cd. the last full cd i got was by Muzzle in early march. believe me, you’re not missing much.

  8. ITMS to take real effect has to also correspond with distribution and availability of iPods in each country, so maybe that is a factor also. But seems to me that shipping iPods to o’Canada couldn’t be that difficult.

  9. Why do English drink warm beer?

They keep it in Lucas refrigerators.

(for all the Triumph and MG fans out there)

  10. Yes!

I have already bought my first 50 songs from Finnish iTunes Music Store!
    This is SO great!
    Let the VISA sing!
I have been waiting for this moment so long =)
My music collection will be turned upside down.
I found even some Finnish music from iTMS. (Though not so many.. HIM, Rasmus,Kirka and Tapani Kansa)

Oh boy! This is going to be very long night ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  11. The list of countries currently on iTMS is all that will be announced at this time. I suspect more will be added before the end of the year.

U.S. store is also off line. U2 iPod is really not that big a deal in the scheme of things. Perhaps there will be something else.

  12. to those without iTMS-

Carl Carlson pretty much speaks for himself. I’ve enjoyed the convenience of the iTMS a great deal since it came out. I’ve actually purchases a bulk of my music from there since the store was first open for business. It really is quite convenient, inexpensive, and ever so easy to use.

But if Carl wishes to keep driving over to Tower or Best Buy for his cd’s, he’s welcome to it.
