More than 100 new features push ‘Panther’ way ahead of the competition. Apple today previewed Mac OS X version 10.3 “Panther,” the next major version of Mac OS X that will ship by the end of this year. The fourth major release of Mac OS X in four years, Panther sets a new gold standard for desktop operating systems with more than 100 breakthrough new features including a completely new Finder; Expose, a revolutionary new way to instantly see all your open windows at once; and iChat AV, a complete desktop video conferencing solution for business, education and consumers.
“With Jaguar, we moved ahead of the competition. With Panther, we’re widening the gap,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO in the press release. “With over 100 new features, including some real blockbusters, Apple is again the industry innovator in operating systems.”
Panther features a completely new Finder that puts a user’s favorite folders, hard drive, network servers, iDisk and removable media in one convenient location, providing one-click access to everything a user needs. The redesigned Finder also features lightning-fast search, colored labels for
fully-customized organization of documents and projects and dynamic browsing of the network for Mac, Windows and UNIX file servers.
Panther also features Expos
Awesome! Although Expose sounds like a bandaid for a window management problem rather than a solution.
it looks good
I think i’m going to really like Expose to be truthful, i normally have mail, ichat, photoshop, itunes, quicken, excel, safari, finder (of course), and my Studio DV/TV tuner on all at the same time, it will be nice being able to find a certain window or something… that’s just me though, but you don’t have ot use it, so it’s not a big deal i guess if you don’t like it…. have fun
“Bandaid for a windows management problem”? What the hell are you talking about. Whatever dude. Do you have a better idea? Translucent windows, ability to see all open windows.
I have to go man.
