jobsforpresident.org shuts down due to overwhelming traffic

The site, as of this story’s posting, now reads, “Thank you for visiting the Draft Steve Jobs for US President website. Happily, enough interest was generated to overwhelm our server and we were forced to disable the site temporarily. This is good news because it proves the level of interest in our proposal. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Of course, all of this interest would serve no benefit unless these same folks can support the venture financially. In other words, to re-launch the site will require a dedicated server some where. If you can help with server space, and bandwidth to handle the traffic, please send e-mail to: webmaster@jobsforpresident.org”

Just think of the productivity gains to be achieved simply by replacing U.S. government workers’ millions of Windows boxes (and most of the accompanying IT staff) with Mac OS X machines!

  1. Let’s just give the present politicians “Keynote” and suggest they update us frequently and *truthfully* (this would encourage governments of all kind to move to MacOSX and of course, Macintosh.

  2. Steve Jobs is a visionary in the field of computers. That does not, however make him a good candidate for president. Think folks, if Steve is in the oval office, who is going to run Apple? Apple needs Steve, the Whitehouse doesn’t. I doubt anyone is taking this seriously, especially the people running the site. Does anyone really think their “donations” will ever get to a Steve for President fund?

Better than either of the last two though I’d wager.

  5. The site now says:
“Steve has communicated with us and declined our proposal. All donations will be refunded, thank you to all who sent e-mail & funds!”

I think that Steve’s legal team contacted them…

President Bush uses a Mac as his own personal computer. Former President Clinton used one as his personal computer while he lived at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave also. This comes from Apple’s own sales brochures.
