Apple iPhone 6s/Plus on pace to beat last year’s 10 million unit first-weekend record

“Apple on Monday said it is on pace to beat last year’s iPhone first-weekend record,” CNBC reports. “‘Customer response to iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been extremely positive and preorders this weekend were very strong around the world,’ the company said in a statement. ‘We are on pace to beat last year’s 10 million unit first-weekend record when the new iPhones go on sale September 25.'”

“According to an iPhone Inventory blog which tracks the back-order status of the various iPhone models, the wait time the big screen iPhone 6S Plus in China is running at three to four weeks, and two to three weeks for the 6S, Re/code reported on Saturday,” CNBC reports. “‘As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6s Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period,’ the company said Monday. ‘We are working to catch up as quickly as we can, and we will have iPhone 6s Plus as well as iPhone 6s units available at Apple retail stores when they open next Friday.'”

    1. The problem wirh Apple today is that they are a one-trick pony.

Tim Cook is an “updater” not an innovator.

The products and services he puts out don’t inspire mania like Jobs’ products and services. On the contrary, they actually conjure boredom, confusion, and ultimately frustration (new Macbook, Mac Pro, Apple Watch, iPad Pro, Apple Music, etc).

Many folks like me are passing on buying product after product with Cook.

As a result Apple is now HEAVILY dependent upon the iPhone. As good as the iPhone ride is, Cook can’t milk it forever, and what does Apple have to fall back on… the Apple Watch?

      My point exactly.

      1. Ok The Problem,

Apple will vanish soon because next year’s iPhone will sink.

Then the Apple brand will vanish like the Rome Empire and Apple will be soon a legend talked about. We will get back to beige computer and the mouse as our primary mode of interaction with technologies…

You have no clue what Apple is doing. Please go see patents from Apple to give you a cue.

If Apple products brings you to confusion and frustration, you are either too dumb or too negative. Stick with windows.

Otherwise, go to another site for complaints…

      2. “Apple is a one-trick pony”. Yes, you are correct. Apple sells computers, just like McDonalds sells food or Chevron sells oil. It just so happens that their most successful computer is also called a phone. See how they tricked your pony brain and made this computer cool by not calling it the iHandheldcomputer? This Apple phone computer is so successful that it almost outsells all the tower and laptop computers sold worldwide. Did you know that people spend more time using this computer than they do watching TV? People love this computer so much that they line-up by the thousands to purchase it every year.

  1. It is usually easier to get component supply and manufacturing supply right when the form factor hasn’t changed. So I would expect unit supply to be better than last year.
Also Apple now know the approximate preference mix for standard and plus sizes and can build appropriately.
There are still another 10 days for pre-orders so Apple will be able to build a healthy pipeline for the iPhone. How many of those they can deliver in the first weekend will determine how much they beat the record by.

  2. Yet analysts pooped AAPL when they still sold 47 million instead of 49 million iPhones, knowing it was just before the iPhone 6s release and knowing only a small percentages of existing iPhone owners had upgraded to even the 6 and were surely waiting on the 6s.
