Apple’s iPad Air the clear Black Friday-Cyber Monday winner as sales pop 51%

“With Black Friday and Cyber Monday now behind us, many of the temporary deals that make these two holidays so popular are also expiring,” Dave Hoch reports for Localytics. “How successful were retailers at selling their mobile devices to the masses? Of the many mobile devices that were discounted this past weekend, it appears there is a clear winner: the iPad Air.”

“Localytics examined the weekly growth during the Black Friday weekend, as compared to the previous weekend. According to Localytics’ data, a whopping 51% more new iPad Air devices were seen than the previous week,” Hoch reports. “Apple’s older iPad Mini model finished second, and the iPhone 5c took third. As previously reported by Localytics, the iPhone 5c is gaining on its more sophisticated cousin, the 5s, during the past couple months.”

Localytics: iPad Air Wins Black Friday-Cyber Monday

Hoch reports, “On the Android side, the Kindle Fire HD 7” and the newest Samsung smartphone, the S IV, saw the greatest growth of new devices. The Kindle Fire HD is the Android tablet exhibiting the largest new device growth from the previous week. The growth of the Kindle Fire HD 7” is likely the result of a temporary $50 price drop that expired on Monday.”

  1. I seriously cannot imagine how so many people can opt for the 4S. The only logical conclusion I can come up with is that retailers only had the 4S on display next to a bunch of faceless Android phones. Because once you get the 5C or 5S in your hand, going back to the 4S feels like going back to a stone tablet and chisel.

An alternative scenario could be that all those people that were led astray by commission-whoring carrier phone salesman into buying an entry level Android dumb- I mean- smartphone are now coming to terms with their buyers remorse and want the cheapest and easiest way to get into THE ecosystem.

      1. Not really. If you can afford the monthly fees for a smartphone you can afford $100 for a 5c. Or even $50 on sale as I have seen multiple times. Why pay LTE service prices when you can’t even feet LTE on a 4s.

  2. Percentages mean little to me in this case. If Samsung sold 10 million last week and 10.5 million this week while Apple sold 1 million last week and 1.5 million this week, does that mean success? Give me the actual numbers sold.
