“Callet World is suing case-maker Hex over that company’s Solo Wallet iPhone case and credit card holder. Callet alleges Hex’s case is a direct copy of a case design that Callet holds a design patent for,” Jordan Golson reports for MacRumors.
“Callet has sued both Hex and Apple in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for violating a design patent of Callet’s design of a iPhone case and credit card holder,” Golson reports. “The company accuses Hex of manufacturing the infringing design, and Apple for selling it. Apple does not carry the Callet in its stores.”
Golson reports, “MacRumors has uploaded the full initial filing on Scribd.”

Oh great, now Apple is being sued for selling a wallet it doesn’t sell. Makes sense to me.
No, they’re being sued for selling a COPY of the case that they don’t sell; Apple sell the Hex case, which is a copy of the Callet case, which Apple DON’T sell.
Allegedly.
Clear now?
It might make more sense to you if read it again.
So this is officially how you run a business in tech if you’re unethical.
Sue Apple for anything related to an idea you patented for a product you’ll never build OR sue Apple for an accessory or app/app feature and enjoy the free publicity.
Reading comprehension is in short supply today on MDN. Callet makes and sells their case. Apple does not happen to carry it.
These case are less alike than the iPhone and the Galaxy S
I like the Hex case design much better!
What?…not a popularity contest?…lawsuit?…oh ok.
Callet case looks ugly!
Mees, I agree. Looked at the photos and thought that Callet is jealous because the Hex just emphasizes how ugly the Callet is.
Hex should sue Callet for lacking taste and design savvy.
Willie Sutton must be Callet’s lawyer.
One is quality leather and the other is translucent plastic. How is that copying?
And from a security perspective, having a wallet and iPhone case combined is not just dumb, it is stupid on the subways of NYC!
The legal system needs to toss this one out. “Call-et” what you will, but this “case” has no merit whatsoever.
It took me all of 30 seconds to do the comparison.
Jay Leno will have a field day with this!
You can actually sue somebody for not selling your product?
