How Microsoftian.
SO when giving tech support and they rattle off that they are running 10.8.2, there is no obvious way to know if they have the “Supplemental Update 2.0”.
Nice.
Of course there is a way. If you’re offering tech support, you simply ask the person to open the Apple menu and select Software Update.
This is hardly unprecedented. Apple has at times issued supplemental updates to minor OS revisions, particularly when the next major revision isn’t due for quite some time and there are particularly pressing issues with the current release.
