iPhone ‘Currently Unavailable’ via U.S. Apple Store online

Want an Apple iPhone in the U.S.? Don’t bother trying Apple’s online store which lists both the 8GB and 16GB iPhone models as “Currently Unavailable.”

Get ready: Apple’s next-gen iPhone doesn’t get more imminent than this!

The U.S Apple Store is here.

MacDailyNews Take: Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC – starts June 9th) sure seems far away, doesn’t it?

  1. Jobs said that 2008 was going to be big.
    This is the signal.
New iPhones … this needs the new OS 10.5.3. Many new features.
    .Mac improves with this …
The clones’ war is won by … Apple!

  2. All this speculation, and yet completely wrong! My sources inside Apple tell me that Apple took a page out of Palm’s playbook and decided to offer the iPhone in two versions: OS X and Windows Mobile.

The delays are not being caused by a shortage of phones, but rather a problem with the new packaging materials for the Windows version. Sources tell me the Windows version drained the battery quicker which forced Apple to redo the packaging in the last minute to include two extra batteries. The OS X version will still have the usual single sealed battery compartment.

My sources also tell me that the Windows iPhone with the three batteries will actually last LONGER than the OS X version with only one battery, so you may want to consider this fact before you make your next purchase.

    Hope this info helps!

  3. @ all the people saying “I don’t have 3G coverage where I live and therefore Apple must keep selling an EDGE iPhone…”

The 3G iPhone, like every other 3G phone, will switch back to the old 2.5G (EDGE) and 2G (GPRS) standards wherever a 3G signal is not available. They are made this way specifically to cover for the patchy 3G coverage in some places.

So whilst you may not *need* a 3G iphone, you won’t have any troubles using it in your area.

  4. I live in a location that doesn’t show to be 3G on the AT+T map, yet my company issued Samsung phone shows a 3G status miles from town in the country. Point is, the coverage may be a little larger than they show.

    Maybe.

  5. Bleeding the channel? Apple?

NO WAY. – This is Apple, guys – they have NO problem selling everything they make, or havent you been reading the sales figures?

New iPhone next week – no need for special announcements or events – it will be world-wide news within 15 minutes.

    Special new product in June!

  6. does anyone know: what is the minimum time between FCC publishing a new device and its earliest launch date, i.e. everything went fine?
Could Apple possibly ask to do certification non-public this time or rush evaluation for a premium fee?

  7. I guess Apple finally realized what a failure the iPhone was and decided to kill the project. Oh, wait, I mean micro$oft finally realized the zune was a complete failure … New iPhone will be released on Monday – 32GB 3G at $300 with 2yr agreement with AT&T;- my prediction. iTouch will drop $100 as well with iTouch 64Gb for xmas.

  8. What’s better than reading 64-odd posts of speculation on why the phone’s not available at the Apple store (with numerous international confirmations)?

Scrolling to the bottom of the page and finding an ad to purchase a new iPhone from the Apple Store [ “Buy Now” ], (which of course sends you to the ‘currently unavailable’ page).

Glad to see MacDailyNews.com is still making money off the old iPhone, even if Apple isn’t.

    Just priceless …
