Dell has its marching orders,” Colin Barr reports for TheStreet.com in his article, “The Five Dumbest Things on Wall Street This Week.”
“The Round Rock, Texas, PC giant got the go-ahead this week on a big U.S. Army supply contract. The Defense Department agreed to buy computers, displays, printers and peripherals from Dell and others under the so-called Army Desktop Mobile Computing-2 contract. All told, the deal could be worth $5 billion over 10 years,” Barr reports. “That news was well received at Dell, which of late has had precious little good news to report.”
“‘Because of our long history and direct relationship with the U.S. Army, we have a thorough understanding of its technology requirements, both domestically and abroad,’ said Troy West, vice president of Dell’s federal business segment,” Barr reports. “And shrugging off the inconvenient fact that eight other companies share the contract, including rival Hewlett-Packard and CDW, West adds that Dell is ‘uniquely positioned to support the Army’s global needs.’ Or at least uniquely proud of itself.”

Back during the Cold War I was an 84B/84F, the predecessor of today’s Combat Camera MOS. It was a great ride courtesy of the US taxpayer. Too bad you didn’t get the job.
As usual I can’t help contributing on a story that went political… Bob I ditto your response… except I’m not nearly as optimistic about November as your. Rove told his minions not to worry he’s got an October surprise, let’s hope it’s not another 9/11 type inside job.

‘Cause Ampar works for MDN, he was busted a long time ago.
How do I know? He’s able to edit his posts and we can’t.
Hahahahaha!!!
CIA and FBI and DOD use Apple’s in key areas. They are not dumb. There are more and more each year.

Suspect: Argh No, I’ll talk, just make it stop.
Interrogator: Are you sure, because I’ve got the demo tape my son put together with GarageBand…
Suspect: No, please, anything but that, I beg you, I’ll talk, I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything.
Too bad Clinton ISN’T President.
I miss that surplus, too.
Military secrets on PC’s. Why am I feeling rather insecure over that.
Typical Conservative Logic- Complain about Liberals, insult them, and only defend your candidates because a Democrat would somehow be worse.

“We need you to infiltrate one of those subversive commie pinko liberal groups, here’s your Birkenstocks and your Apple notebook. The keys to the Prius are on the desk over there.
Too bad Clinton ISN’T President.
He’d still be “feeling (our) pain” on 9/11, and would be in the pants of another ugly broad someplace.
Remember, Bin Laden planned while Clinton humped.

Don’t kid yourself, dumbass.
Republicans blocked every move he tried to make.
Maybe YOU can tell me, redneck state, why did we leave afghanastan for Iraq?
C’mon let’s hear it.
There — it’s — you know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror.

Hey Red (neck), how do you feel about succession.
(I know, that’s a big word).
10/12 years ago the Corps of Engineers at Ft. Lost in the Woods, Misery, used Macs. Not sure what they are on now?
Royal Engineers School in UK also used Macs at the same time. That’s where I got my first fix on a Mac and haven’t looked back.
With Boot Camp, or Paralells, aren’t there enough credible personel then pushing for mac in the gov’t (FBI, CIA, etc.)?
I think the biggest terrorism threat will be a major breach of our “information” infrastructure.
Shit, if kids can hack, you don’t think Islamic Facists w/ advanced degrees can tear down a Gubments’ windoze infrastructure?
this thread is slightly off topic. here are a few clarifying comments.
1. admc-2 is an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract that negotiates a large block purchase price for a proposed set of solutions to a spec. any dod agency can order off this contract until the $5billion cap is met or the 10 years expire. 9 companies were each awarded exclusive vendor status in their contract. dell is just one. cdw and the 6 small businesses interest me, because even if they did not propose macs in their initial solution, they can propose a technology upgrade with macs after one year. cdw for example, has macs available on the nasa idiq contract that is currently in place. so macs are not shut out and dell’s are not the only brand available ont he contract.
2. these types of contracts allow the buyer to get large quantity pricing even on a single purchase. one of the precursors to this contract was desktop1 &2 an air force idiq contract in the 90’s. macs were a contract line item on those contracts. macs are on the gsa schedule today. what makes it difficult to buy a mac (unless you work at nasa) is the eyetee mafia (some of you wrongly refer to them as the “army’s sys ad) are really hung up on this standardization kool aid. they are so backwards that they think standardization somehow equates to saving money. i firmly believe these people were born with un-upgradable 64mb of ram (so they obvious have to chose between beathing and thinking). about zero of these policy makers could qualify as a sys ad. i don’t believe apple trying to enter this shrinking market with cut-throat competition is in their best long term interests. at least not as a comodity brand. let dell and hp swim in the red ink. if they entered this market, it would be through a var partner like gtsi or cdw. their pricing on the full workstation level computers would let these companies insert the pro line in the next technology refresh. you have to remember the bids and prices were as of a year ago for this contract. probably pre-bootcamp, which was would not meet the windows 2000/xp requirement in the spec.
3. the mach5 xserve supercomputer, currently #21 in the worlwide list @24576gflops is an army supercomputer cranking out hypersonic missle thermodynmic simlulations today.
mw: involved…apple needs to get involved intelligently by partnering with one of the winning vendors (except dell)
American soldiers are such a losers. They win wars only in the Hollywood.
“Republicans blocked every move he tried to make.”
Not true, if it had a pulse, Clinton made a move on it. No way the republicans could block them all.
“American soldiers are such a losers. They win wars only in the Hollywood.”
At least they can decide which side to be on. I guess the Finnish know that if you switch sides often enough you’ll eventually end up on the winning one.
yep.
Not true?
Bill Kristol’s memo?
Do you know what that is?
You are confused.
FDR- true conservative.
GW- true idiot.
Or do you consider him a statesman?
Of course you don’t. You are a dumb redneck.
Your posts prove it.

Karl Rove = Gay
Ken Melhman = Gay
Scotty McClellan = Gay
George W Bush = Switch hitter
At least they didn’t get a hummer from a beret wearing fat girl in the oval office….they got a hummer from a Hummer driving beret wearing twink with washboard abs. Of course that’s not impeachable because no fat was involved.
Oh I forgot:
Dick Cheney = Too ugly to be gay (though his daughter is gay)
and
Michael Dell = Douchebag
“And, if I could get a BJ in the Oval Office, I’D TAKE IT EVERY TIME!!!!”
And if you’d been in there with Bill Clinton, he probably would have asked you for one, so you would have got your wish of a BJ in the oval office.
I’m sure you’d have enjoyed hailing to your chief.
solid- hilarious, and well stated. Just compare your comments to those of “Yep”.
In fact, just compare by what names you each chose to identify yourselves by.
(Yep, stop chanting “STUPID, STUPID….”; AND don’t BANG YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL LIKE THAT. You might disturb the neighbors).
Yep, while your rebuttal was brilliant, you failed to answer any of my questions.
I’ll give you another chance.
Gonna have to remove this site from my feed. Too many retarded right wing, fundamentalist f*cks for my taste. You people are ruining america.
A president’s worth is proven by the legacy he leaves.
Like a surplus?
The economy was careening off the rails before GW even took office. If you need to spout off, at least know the facts.
The 90’s roared in spite of Clinton. What did he do that was so miraculous? NAFTA?? LOL. The only miracle is how Clinton successfully took credit for an economy that overran itself into short-term prosperity. Too bad there weren’t more fat interns keeping him busy.
And, if I could get a BJ in the Oval Office, I’D TAKE IT EVERY TIME!!!!
THAT’S WHAT POWER’S ALL ABOUT, NIMROD!!!
While your soldiers die in foreign lands, major terror groups plan to kill your citizens, and your country’s economy goes to hell, you’d take priority -and pride- in getting your dick sucked?
Ones like you are called tyrants.
Here’s praying that NObody with such views -from ANY party or political angle- ever gets into office.
