iPhone 18 Pro demand looks ‘healthy’ as lead times barely ease – JPMorgan

Apple is likely seeing “healthy” demand for iPhone 18 Pro, JPMorgan said Monday, after week-three delivery waits showed only a limited pullback from last week’s surge.

The firm’s Apple Product Availability Tracker had already shown a sharp stretch in week two: average iPhone 18 Pro lead times jumped to 23 days from 7 in week one, while iPhone 18 Pro Max moved to 30 days from 19. That week-over-week jump was steeper than the iPhone 17 Pro cycle at the same point a year ago, when waits rose by 9 and 7 days, respectively.

U.S., U.K., and German timelines had moved broadly in line with last year’s Pro launch. China was still running shorter than a year ago, but the gap was closing.

JPMorgan had flagged week three as the test: if waits collapsed, the week-two spike might have been a supply hiccup. They didn’t. Moderation was limited. The read, the bank said, is healthy Pro demand — with the usual caveat that longer waits can also reflect constrained supply, not just hot orders.

MacDailyNews Take: Of course, without knowing Apple’s initial supplies for each year, it’s difficult to be precise.

And this year has a brand new wrinkle: iPhone Duo. Foldable pre-orders do not open until October 1th. Some Pro shoppers may still be waiting to see the book-style model before they commit. Supply-chain production revisions, typically around November, will be the cleaner signal after that.
