Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro chip to unleash massive leap for foldable iPhone, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max

According to industry analyst Jeff Pu, Apple’s highly anticipated first foldable iPhone (dubbed “iPhone Fold”) will launch in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, all powered by the next-generation A20 Pro chip.

This advanced processor is built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm (N2) process, delivering performance improvements of up to 15% faster and 30% more power efficient compared to the A19 chips. The A20 Pro also incorporates TSMC’s Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) technology, integrating RAM directly onto the wafer with the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine for enhanced Apple Intelligence performance, better battery life, and a more compact design.

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a book-style design with a crease-free 7.8-inch inner display, 5.5-inch outer display, Touch ID, and other premium specs shared with the Pro models.

Regular iPhone 18 variants with the A20 chip (also 2nm) are slated for a later spring 2027 release.
