Apple has discreetly canceled the planned release of “The Savant,” originally slated for Apple TV+ this Friday, September 26. As of today, the Jessica Chastain-led series no longer has a confirmed release date. Apple has removed references to the show’s premiere from its social media, and the TV app now lists it as “coming at a later date.”
Two weeks ago, The Critical Drinker, a popular YouTube film and TV critic, lambasted the series as “The Ultimate Karen Power Fantasy” in a September 3, 2025 review that is nearing a million views, some of which may have been from Apple executives.
Being able to read the room is a pretty important skill for anyone, especially is your job is to product entertainment that will appeal to as wide an audience as possible. That means having your finger on the pulse of modern culture and understanding how people are feeling, what they like and dislike, and what issues are important to the them right now. Which is what Apple TV spectacularly failed with the release of their first trailer for “The Savant,” a new show about — and I kid you not — a middle-aged white Karen who uses online censorship and surveillance to tackle “right-wing extremism” in America (laughs). Congratulations, Apple, I do believe you’ve cracked it! You have officially won the “Boy, Did We Back The Wrong Horse” award for the most tone-deaf, out-of-touch production in recent memory. – The Critical Drinker

Didn’t Disney give that loser Jimmy Kimmel his show back because of threats from the tolerant Left while complaining about censorship of free speech. Yet, when the Left was in power of the government, didn’t they pressure Apple, Google and Amazon to remove the Parler app from their respective stores.
The only language the Left understands is threats and violence. Trying to have a conservation with them only gets you assassinated. They murdered the nice guy who was willing to have that conversation. Maybe it is time that they too be spoken to in the only language they understand. It’s funny reading articles from Apple insider as well as 9to5Mac and they have no idea why the show would be canceled. They do mention the people who complained about the trailer as being misogynistic. I do appreciate you continuing to call things as they are.

So this guy (and apparently MDN) are basing their entire opinion of the show on the trailer? And they are speculating why Apple canceled the show solely based on the trailer? Nobody has actually seen the series or even has “anonymous sources” inside Apple? Maybe it was… bad acting, lousy script, one-dimensional characters or just… boring.
And BTW, if it’s a dumb show, let it quietly suffocate in its own dumbness. Don’t give it the benefit of the Streisand effect.

I have been all in on Apple products for soooooo many years, and enjoyed a lot of their shows when they first started. I simply stopped watching any of them because of their woke crap. Why can’t we just go back to entertainment for entertainment’s sake? It’s why pretty much all of the late night shows (minus Gutfeld) are basically viewerless – they’re unfunny, political, and hyperbolic in their hatred. We don’t need tv shows or movies to tell us what we’re supposed to believe.
