On Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order enacting his trade agreement with Japan, setting a maximum 15% tariff on most U.S. products, including automobiles and parts.

Josh Wingrove and Hadriana Lowenkron for Bloomberg News:

The deal was reached in July, but had yet to be formalized as Washington and Tokyo haggled over its terms…

The provisions of the agreement apply retroactively to any products shipped starting Aug. 7, the date which the US president’s tariffs on dozens of trading partners took effect.

Japan in July agreed to create a $550 billion fund to make investments in the US, though the details have yet to be announced.

  1. The difference between Trump and the Italian Mafia is that the Mafia will kill your family if you don’t do business with them. Trump will hit you with trade tariffs which ultimately impact regular Americans at the check out counter when they buy goods imported from the tariff affected country.

  2. Guy signs a trade agreement with a country that implements 15% tariffs, while historically the host country had SCORES of HEAVY agricultural tariffs on “guest’s” imports. Guy has been refining trade with host country since ’19-USJTA and this agreement results in MOST equitable level in YEARS…and guy is equated with Mob Boss inflicting pain on US citizens.

It’s ALWAYS worth asking, why in the World, would Japan tariff certain products–hundreds of percentages for rice–for example, negatively impacting it’s citizens FOR YEARS? The supposed absurdity/cruelty was never questioned by the host citizens, or “guests” seeking trade. So interesting.

It’s this kind of irrational animus that gives credence to the thinking that The Syndrome is real.

  3. Treasonant DJ Plump could not find Japan on a map, what makes anyone think this is any different than the prior illegal shakedowns of global supply chains?

Why exactly should Sony TVs be tariffed any different than LG sets? The whim of the fuhrer is not an acceptable reason, you orangy lemmings

  4. Yes, Australia had a trade agreement with the US until Trump tore it up and slapped tariffs on Australia. Trump is a lying skunk and shouldn’t be believed.

I do apologise to all skunks and their kindred folk.
