After raising the subscription cost from $9.99/mo to $12.99 /mo., Apple is working to retain Apple TV+ subscribers by offering a discounted rate when they consider canceling. If you attempt to cancel your Apple TV+ subscription, a pop-up may appear, reducing the price to $5.99 for two months before reverting to the standard $12.99 per month.
Apple appears to have started offering the discount in the last few days…
Apple is still charging $99 for an annual subscription, so there is an option to get a lower price when subscribing for a full year. Apple also has not changed the price of its Apple One bundles.
Customers who want to get the $5.99 deal without continuing to pay $12.99 should make sure to cancel after the second $5.99 monthly charge. Opting in to the discounted offer today would mean the $12.99 price would resume in November.
MacDailyNews Take: There’s always churn after a price increase. Apple did the calculation and found that the $12.99/mo. increase outweighed the expected cancellation rate from instituting it.
$12.99/mo. for all that Apple TV+ offers is still a value, but an even better deal is an Apple One subscription which includes Apple TV+.
