Apple is updating the name of the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America” in its Maps app, in response to an executive order signed by U.S. President Donald Trump on his first day in office. This follows the U.S. government’s revision of its official map to incorporate the new name. Earlier this week, Alphabet Inc.’s Google also updated its Google Maps app to reflect this change.

Apple is making the change Tuesday for customers in the US, but said it would soon roll out the shift for all users globally. Apple offers its Maps app on most of its devices, including the iPhone, iPad and Mac, and recently launched a web version to better compete with Google Maps.
Republican lawmakers have already praised Google’s move to adhere to Trump’s order and quickly chastised Apple for not immediately falling in line. US Representative Greg Steube earlier on Tuesday wrote on Facebook that Apple is “still lost at sea.”
Since Trump’s November victory, technology executives such as Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai have appeared with him at a variety of events, including the inauguration.

If I tell Siri to show me a map of the Gulf of America on my iPhone it shows me Gulfport. If I say show me a map of the Gulf of Mexico it shows the correct map but is named Gulf of America, come on Apple!!
Time for the imbecile to next change New Mexico to New America. And also all the other states, cities and towns with Spanish names in the southern USA haha

I don’t have too big a problem with the new moniker for the Gulf of Mexico; though it should be correctly called the Gulf of the Americas. The proper name of our country is the United States of America (It should really be the United States of the Americas).
Remember Canadians, Mexicans, Colombians, Panamanians & Peruvians are all Americans, too, among many others.
If this were the only thing the Buffoon Brigade bungled, it could be worse. Unfortunately they seemingly have the “brown touch” (everything they touch turns to . . .) It’s going to be a long four years, if the world survives it.

Most houses in UK don’t have basements. But we do have accurate maps which were not drawn by an orange man child, and none of them mention the gulf of america… or the Gaza Riviera for that matter.

I never read about the real motive behind the name change.
There were so many rules, laws, and regulations limiting activity in the Gulf of Mexico by the Biden administration that Trump changed the name to immediately render them obsolete.

In what way does changing the name of a body of water do that? You and your type never deserved to live in a free country, because you don’t value any of the foundations necessary for freedom. And now you have your god-king that demands servility (one of the most anti-American demands there could ever be) and obedience, and punishes anyone that doesn’t agree with him without question. You actively participate and praise the destruction of individual values for the sake of wanting to harm others who have done nothing to you.
