Significant chunk of Silicon Valley money and power supporting President Trump

Former U.S. Donald President Trump selected Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Axios reports that “a significant chunk of Silicon Valley money and power” is supporting former U.S. President Trump just as he has chosen former venture capitalist J.D. Vance as his running mate.

Scott Rosenberg and Dan Primack for Axios:

Venture capital billionaires Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz each will make donations to former President Trump’s election effort, Axios has learned.

The “techno-optimists” Andreessen and Horowitz are following hot on the heels of Elon Musk’s announcement that he would endorse Trump and form a PAC to aid his campaign.

Leaders of the industry’s giants — from Microsoft and Apple to Google and Facebook — have sought to thrive under presidents from both parties, and rarely taken sides.

Vance is an investor in Rumble, a free-speech-oriented social network embraced by the right, and Trump has his own Truth Social network.

The bottom line: With Trump’s fortunes at a high ebb right now, don’t be surprised to see more tech execs join his corner.

  1. Interview with Marc Andreessen . . . Interviewer: “So, Marc, here’s a hypothetical. Let’s say a Presidential candidate said that they wanted to convert our capitalist system to a “new feudal” system, in which money and power would be centered with The Rich, creating a class of Kings, Princes, and Lords, and the other 8 Billion people would be living in debt, paying off student loans, car loans, home loans, etc., at high interest rates for the remainder of their lives, and they mindlessly clicked between YouTube videos, Netflix, and whatever services AI may provide in the future. Marc, would you be OK with that system??” . . . Marc Andreessen, “Hey, as long as I don’t have to pay taxes, I’m OK with anything.”

  2. So you do know that apparently the shooter (with Trump signs all over his property and even though he did send a $15.00 donation to ActBlue last year) identified as a Republican, correct?
