Apple’s iOS 17.5 expected to deliver some significant changes

iOS 17 upgrades the communications experience with Contact Posters, a new stickers experience, Live Voicemail, and much more.
iOS 17.5

Apple has not yet seeded developers with the first beta of iOS 17.5, but two changes are already expected with the upcoming software update.

Joe Rossignol for MacRumors:

iOS 17.5 will likely allow iPhone users in the EU to download apps directly from the websites of eligible developers, and the update might include some changes to how Apple ID recovery contacts work.

Apple recently announced that eligible developers will soon be able to distribute their iOS apps to EU users directly from a website they own. Apple said this new “Web Distribution” feature will be available starting “later this spring” with an upcoming software update for the iPhone, which presumably refers to iOS 17.5.

iOS 17.5 may include some changes to Apple ID recovery contacts, according to known tipster Nicolás Álvarez. However, he did not share any specific details, and he said there is a chance that the changes would not be visible to users.

  1. Maybe it’s just me, but allowing downloads from eligible developers’ websites is not the same as allowing third party App stores. As such I expect the EU to come down even harder on Apple trying to skirt the issue.

    1. I’m waiting for the story to released (broadly) that the EU wants Apple to make the Photos app removable. It won’t be long the state-ist EU will want AAPL to change its spelling…as it’s too racist, male run, or triggering for some other nutcassery reason.

It will go along with new speech rules proposed, or about to go in to effect in Scotland, Ireland and Poland.

Meanwhile AAPL themselves prevented the appearance of Lina Khan (FTC Chair) on the Jon Stewart’s podcast ON APpLeTV…for fear of________ .

The World is truly getting scary and per JFKJr’s words, we have more to worry about JRB than DJT…per speech control. It’s hard to imagine that b/c the legacy news media is about mis/dis/mal info.
