Multi-billionaire Elon Musk was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by a Norwegian lawmaker who praised the X-owner as a “stout proponent for free speech.”

Ariel Zilber for The New York Post:

Marius Nilsen, a Norwegian member of parliament who is a member of the libertarian Progress Party, said he put forward Musk’s name due to his “adamant defense of dialogue, free speech and [enabling] the possibility to express one’s views” in a “continuously more polarized world.”

Nilsen also praised Musk for providing Starlink satellite internet connectivity to Ukrainian soldiers who were in dire straits following the launch of the Russian invasion of their country two years ago.

“The multitude of tech companies Musk has founded, owns or runs, aimed at bettering societies, increasing knowledge of both earth and space, in addition to enabling communication and connectivity globally… has helped make the world a more connected and safer place,” Nilsen said.

Aside from X and SpaceX, the world’s richest person also heads electric car maker Tesla, tunnel-digging firm The Boring Company and brain chip implant pioneer Neuralink.

As of Monday, Musk’s fortune was valued at $213 billion by Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

In late 2022, he acquired Twitter for $44 billion with the aim of allowing unfettered speech.

MacDailyNews Take: Unfortunately, the Nobel Peace Prize has been rendered a joke in recent decades. It’s now, by its own committees’ doing, pretty much worthless. Politics doesn’t have to taint everything, but over time, as awards and such are handed out by weak-minded people who’ve ascended via The Peter Principle, politics does indeed eventually seem to taint everything.

Regardless, Musk has arguably done much for free speech and open communications, hence, peace, as The Twitter Files, pre-Musk Twitter, and, now, a much freer X (not to mention Starlink, etc.) attest.

  1. So in support of free speech he bans Putin’s biggest critic whose husband he just had murdered. It’s only the rich and powerful Musk wants freedom of speech for, certainly not the pliable little people, or maybe wants an invite to run Roscosmos. Clearly the World is going to Hell in a Tesla handcart. Let’s hope it runs out of juice before it gets there.

    1. Yes, as MDN pointed out the liberal pinheads have ruined the once nobel prize and the pinnacle of their mistakes was awarding it to Obama a few months into office who did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, except with the giddy backing of the liberal media was elected for his skin color.

Still, things change over time and the committee needs to dump the leftist patronizing and do WHAT’S RIGHT! Certainly a good first step.

Musk is the most multi-talented mercurial leader on planet Earth with his head on straight tackling REALITY. Just IMAGINE what he could accomplish as Apple CEO…

  2. The joke prize of all history. That idiot Obama got it for doing absolutely nothing for peace when the Norwegians came groveling on their knees to give it to him, embarrassing the world. And anyway, why would they give it to Musk for speech … it’s a (fake) peace prize, not a free speech prize.

  3. Donald Trump was nominated for 2 nobel prizes!

Musk should be nominated for Tossing the FBI, The Justice Department, and the Biden Administration out of Twitter alone. Our government was paying Twitter millions to silence people and lefties just act like it never happened. Pay no attention to the fascists behind the curtain.

  4. Deserves it, and for providing Ukraine with satellite connections during the war. Trump also deserved it, for the Middle East Peace treaty but didn’t get it (and for 4 years of no wars). But Obama got it as soon as he was in office for doing absolutely nothing!
