Apple’s iPhone, MacBook top Christmas gift wish list

“Despite concerns about waning demand for Apple’s iPhone, the device is still the must-have holiday gift, influential tech analyst Gene Munster told CNBC on Monday,” Matthew J. Belvedere reports for CNBC. “”

“The Piper Jaffray managing director said on ‘Squawk Box’ that a survey of 1,000 consumers conducted by his firm’s retail team over the past month showed the iPhone was even more sought after this year, as Cyber Monday gets underway with Black Friday and the long Thanksgiving shopping weekend in the rearview mirror,” Belvedere reports. “‘The percentage of people who wanted an iPhone [was 7.2 percent]. That was the No. 1 requested gift. It was [5.2 percent] in 2015,’ Munster said, referring to the findings of Piper Jaffray’s fifth annual Holiday Spending Intentions Survey.”

Belvedere reports, “Reviewing brand preferences within top gifts, Apple mindshare, a measure of what consumers say they’ll buy, increased to 10.3 percent in 2016, with teens predominantly requesting the iPhone and MacBook products, according to the survey.”

  1. Wishing and having the money to get it are two different things, but great to hear its still wanted most of all. How many times have your parents given you an off brand of what you wanted? They meant well, but didnt understand the nuances of x over y… educate them greatly helps…

  2. I can tell I am getting old. I wouldn’t want a phone that can only use apple’s headphones (without an adaptor, which would likely get lost over the year or two of ownership) Or subpar bluetooth for audio. I am still not cool with no headphone jack. Next up, they will take away the charging port and have you buy a stupid adaptor to plug it in or carry some adaptor. See ya apple.
