“Stocks edged higher by mid-afternoon Tuesday, though trading remained unpredictable and cautious after a terrorist attack in Brussels reignited fears over global safety and market stability,” Keris Alison Lahiff reports for TheStreet.
“‘It is all to do with the events in Brussels … but the reaction is muted, which also shows that after all the terrorist attacks we have seen, markets have learned to live with these kind of things,’ Rabobank eurozone economist Emile Cardon told Reuters,” Lahiff reports. “At least 31 people have been confirmed dead and many more injured after suicide bombers triggered explosions at the airport in Brussels and a metro station, according to reports. ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the attacks.”
“Travel stocks, including airlines, hotels and online-booking sites, were hit hardest on the news,” Lahiff reports. “Apple was on watch after federal prosecutors asked a judge to halt a much-anticipated hearing on their efforts to force the tech giant to unlock a phone used by one of the San Bernardino attackers. The FBI may have found another way, and Apple’s cooperation may no longer be needed, according to court papers filed late Monday, less than 24 hours before Tuesday’s hearing. Separately, Apple unveiled its latest addition to its smartphone portfolio on Monday afternoon, the smaller, four-inch iPhone SE.”

MacDailyNews Take: As long as the responses are feckless and weak, these attacks will unfortunately continue.
Terrorism is horrible and must be stopped. All of us must do everything we can do to stop this craziness… these people shouldn’t exist. They should be eliminated… You don’t want to eliminate everyone’s privacy. If you do, you not only don’t solve the terrorist issue but you also take away something that is a human right. The consequences of doing that are very significant. Apple CEO Tim Cook, February 27, 2015
Yes there sure are a lot of nut cases that bomb, torture and behead people indiscriminately. I hope they all get their just desserts.
Since this is Grammar Nazi day, I’ll point out that the phrase is ‘just deserts’. But the other, ‘just desserts’ could apply to the suicide bombers thinking of their reward in paradise, a clutch of delectable houris.
70 year old virgin nuns meeting those idiots.
Yes, well the proof is in the pudding.
Here is what I found on the expression:
“The expression meaning that which is deserved was originally just deserts. The phrase is the last refuge of an obsolete meaning of desert—namely, something that is deserved or merited. But because most modern English speakers are unfamiliar with that old sense of desert, the phrase is often understandably written just desserts.
Using just desserts is not a serious error, and it is much more common than just deserts in 21st-century texts. Some people still consider it wrong, however. Whether to pay this any heed is for each of us to decide for ourselves.”
I used the term just desserts because I remember that the double “s” is for strawberry shortcake and for these kind of actions forgive fudge is one of the most appropriate desserts I can think for these people.
This is a problem of globalization.
Evolution is the solution.
They will for sure. The law of karma—as you sow so shall you reap—will ensure that (with mind boggling accuracy). In the future they will experience every drop of blood, all the fear and anxiety that they have brought on others. That’s the reality. Is this really how you want others to treat you! Think about it! It’s a horribly sad, unfortunate situation for ALL involved, including the perpetrators, their families and friends. CHOOSE LOVE NOT HATRED and you will bring happiness—not misery (to yourself and others).
Hey CK, you’re quoting Paul:
Do not be deceived. God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
Galatians 6:7
Karma is: ‘The sum of a person’s actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.’
I don’t believe in karma, but I do believe in a just God.
These maniacs think they’ll be rewarded but they’re in for a shock.
Speaking of ISIS in particular, they are very deliberate about what they do, when, where and why. They explain in painstaking detail why they are cutting people’s heads off, burning them, bombing them, etc. They have a very sophisticated PR wing and billions of dollars in intelligence spending (not to mention airstrikes) has failed to seriously disrupt them. These people have a passionate belief in a puritan form of Islam that is alien to the West, but it’d be extremely dangerous and irresponsible to dismiss them as nutcases, it doesn’t address the problem at all and it’s burying your head in the sand.
When one’s passion so to speak is guided towards elimination of others, it’s an indication of something drastic, the lack of tolerance or the need for survival.
I lean towards the Calhoun behavioral sink theory that showed in mice the collapse in behavior which resulted from overcrowding. I believe the same biological effect is at play here in our now overpopulated species.
So the beatings with continue. Now we could have the religious leaders come out and say “stop breeding so much” but I’m not holding my breath for that.
So while this is an atrocity on many level, it does have an indication to me of an over populated species that is looking for means to reduce the overall numbers without affecting the birth rate.
Forgiveness fudge goes well with nuts.
Maybe some of the good people following the Muslim religion need to come together and compile a peace version of the Koran that eliminates all the passages used by hateful radical extremist and keeps all the God, love, respect, peace parts.
By instilling fear into this nation’s rampant stupidity; terrorists have already caused us do away with our domestic civility. The next step is to have us do away with our personal privacy and economic stability.
Wake up people, we are shaking like Barney Fife and doing this to ourselves!
