Apple launches repair program for Late 2013 Mac Pro video issues

“Apple today launched a new Repair Extension Program that addresses video issues on some late 2013 Mac Pro models,” Joe Rossignol reports for MacRumors.

“Apple has determined that graphics cards in some late 2013 Mac Pros, manufactured between February 8, 2015 and April 11, 2015, may cause distorted video, no video, system instability, freezing, restarts, shut downs, or may prevent system start up,” Rossignol reports. “Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will repair eligible Mac Pro models affected by the video issues free of charge.”

Rossignol reports, “Customers can book an appointment with the Genius Bar at an Apple Store or visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider to determine if their Mac Pro is eligible for coverage. ”

    1. CogDi: The model series is ‘MacBook Pro, Retina, x-inch, Late 2013‘. There was a minor revision of this model series in ‘mid-2014’ but it remained the ‘Late 2013’ model series. The next model series was ‘Mid-2015’, which translates into May, 2015. As you can see, May 2015 comes immediately after April 11, 2015, when the problem group of Mid-2013 model series ended production.

    1. Maybe. But the Late 2013 series ALL used Intel Iris Pro 5200 (2.2 GHz) or NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M and Intel Iris Pro 5200 (2.5 and 2.8 GHz) [to quote Ian Page from his excellent MacTracker app.] The switch to AMD/ATI wasn’t until May, 2015 when the ‘Mid-2015’ series began to be released.
