“In late 2014, Apple introduced its very first ‘phablet’ — the iPhone 6 Plus,” Ashraf Eassa writes for The Motley Fool. “There’s little doubt in my mind that Apple would prefer that iPhone customers ‘buy up’ to the larger iPhones than go with the smaller 4.7-inch model.”
“To that end, I believe that investors and consumers alike should expect Apple to increasingly endow the Plus versions of its iPhones with special features and improved specifications relative to the smaller, standard iPhone,” Eassa writes. “So, this is how I think Apple will differentiate the iPhone 7 Plus from the iPhone 7 next year.”
• Higher resolution, greater number of pixels per inch: My initial thoughts were that Apple would include a 2560-by-1440 display on the iPhone 7 Plus (improving pixels per inch to around 534). However, given that the iPhone 6/6s Plus internally render images at 2208-by-1242 and downscales them to 1920-by-1080, it seems more reasonable to expect that the iPhone 7 will feature a 2208-by-1242 display (462 pixels per inch).
• Faster processor to go with that additional memory: Apple should be able to increase the peak CPU (and likely graphics) clock speeds on the A10 inside of the iPhone 7 Plus relative to the one inside of the vanilla iPhone 7.
• Additional software perks for the larger screen device: I wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple add even more iPhone Plus-exclusive software features and functionality in the iPhone 7 Plus and beyond.

MacDailyNews Take: The Plus models are the iPhone flagships, so it makes sense that Apple would lavish the extra attention on them. You can have our iPhone 6s Plus units the day iPhone 7 Plus launches.
The next iPhone will have a name to indicate that it is incrementally advanced from the previous model.
It will have some features that have evolved from current features.
It will introduce features not presently available on any current product.
Luckily, you will not have to deposit coins to place a phone call.
Again… Suspect timing on these rumors and reports…
This is the favored tactic to hamper sales this holiday season.
Same with the bogus watch rumors …
Sigh
You can have my iPhone 6 Plus unit the day iPhone 7 Plus launches. Looking forward to it.

It’s too bad that Apple is making “normal size” phone customers second-class citizens. It’s not about the price. I really, really tried to love the 6S Plus. It was just too much of a hindrance. Did not fit in most pockets properly, and using a belt holster made me look like an ATF agent. And it was damned heavy. I want to phone to be a PHONE. Something I just pick up and use, in ONE HAND, without giving much thought as to how I’m holding it so that it doesn’t drop. I was so happy and relieved when I took it back and got the 6s.
I know there are many who don’t use iPads, and consider this “hybrid” device to be ideal. Good for them! But for me, the Plus makes Surface Pro-like compromises: too small to be a great tablet, and too big to be a great phone.
I no longer care about iphone rumors. It became a very boring thing
