Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.

In stores, Apple Pay works with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, as well as iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, upon availability.

How To Add a Discover Card to Apple Pay

After upgrading for free to iOS 9, Discover cardmembers can go to the Wallet app to get started. If cardmembers already have a Discover card on file with iTunes, all they need to do is enter the security code, or they can choose to add a new Discover Card.

MacDailyNews Take: As the number of Apple Pay users increases, so will the number of retailers who support it. The CVSes and the Walmarts of the world will not be able to pretend Apple Pay doesn’t exist for much longer.

  1. This was the only reason I hadn’t upgraded my 5S yet. With Discover on board, and the 10% cashback until the end of the year, I’ll be checking the stock in the stores in my neighbourhood (Manhattan) for stock of black 16GB 6s.

This 10% cashback promo will likely kick up a decent spike in usage.

    1. It’s probably only 10% more of the cash back you already get (likely 2% at most) which would be 0.2% cash back bonus. Their marketing is ridiculously misleading. You’re not suddenly getting a 10% discount on everything you buy, or you could just resell brand new stuff on eBay all day long at a 5% discount.

  2. This is HUGE!

I’ll be able to convince my mom to upgrade her phone and get a Discover card just for this. It’ll pay for itself on Black Friday in her hands! And it sells another iPhone for Apple. And Discover gets a new client. And… And…

    This is HUGE!

  3. I tried adding my Discover care using my iPhone 6 plus. Problem is it seems Discover didn’t flip the switch. I got a message on my iPhone saying that the card isn’t compatible with Apple Pay.

  4. People should go to the stores that have NFC readers that are intentionally turned off with cartloads of stuff from all over the store and try paying with Apple Pay.

Then, when it doesn’t work say that you don’t have any other credit card on with you at the moment and walk out…

It’s a bit mean but maybe stores will get the hint when they have to keep paying employees to run cartloads back to the shelfs…
