“Apple Inc Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook on Monday is expected to announce details of the first product developed under his leadership, a watch that Apple hopes will transform the market of wearable technology,” Edwin Chan and Alexei Oreskovic report for Reuters.
“Apple has said the watch will launch in April and speculation is rife on what capabilities, from healthcare and fitness to navigation and entertainment, will be included,” Chan and Oreskovic report. “Apple will have to “tweak” its stores to handle the watch, Cook told the Telegraph newspaper recently.”
Chan and Oreskovic report, “Cook is expected to take stage at 10 a.m. PST (1 p.m. EST) on Monday in a carefully choreographed presentation. The company has not confirmed the event is about the Watch, but the invitation simply reads “Spring Forward,” a word play on the resetting of watches for daylight savings, which begins the day before.”

Nerd Holiday!
I haven’t been this excited since the iPad announcement. Happy Apple Day!
for the first time in a long time, AAPL watchers are genuinely unsure, regardless of what they’re publicly saying. More than ever before, the launch of a new AAPL product is larded with almost unreasonable expectations and no one really knows if AAPL can meet them. AAPL no longer has the luxury of lowered expectations.
As AAPL’s JAM trajectories soar with +BUN on their quarterly EGG, they can no longer under promise and over deliver. With even moderate success perceived as failure, ROI, BACN, and PLUM all need to exceed the numbers of even a successful “hobby” like Apple TV.
the watch has to appeal to people on its own merits, not just a fraction of ecosystem converts.
will anything else be announced besides the watch?
“Will anything else be announced besides the watch?”
Yes, the long-awaited 17 inch PowerBook G5, Newton With monochrome Retina Display, and the Asteroid Project will be “One More Thing”.
My sources tell me stand alone Apple TV is not yet ready (Dammit Gene!)
So Stoked!
Who’s to say? But, the Apple Store is currently offline, which is normal for a presentation where new product pages are being updated to go live after the event.
Meanwhile, Cook and Federighi are still presiding over a two year IMAP email fail that has been hosing sys admins and enterprise clients since 10.9. Despite very public promises, in settings like todays event, that it would be made workable.
For sure I’ll get a watch. But what I would like the most today is for Tim to annonce Apple Pay in Canada.
“ooooh, Kanna-duh…!”
