Apple’s iPhone 6/Plus setting new records as iOS device users define the mobile lifestyle

“iPhones made up four out of the five best-selling smartphone models over the past three months, Kantar Worldpanel said today,” Jonny Evans reports for Computerworld.

MacDailyNews Note: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus debuted on September 19th, 2 months and 15 days ago, so the full impact of iPhone 6/Plus in not yet included in Kantar’s rolling three-month reports.

“The latest Kantar Worldpanel ComTech smartphone sales data for the three months to October 2014 shows that the iPhone 6 has increased Apple’s sales share in almost every major market,” Evans reports. “Dominic Sunnebo, strategic insight director at Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, said: ‘Apple has experienced a huge jump in sales share across almost all major markets thanks to the launch of the iPhone 6. In major European economies, the US and Australia, Apple’s share of sales has risen.'”

“IBM tells us that iOS devices accounted for 22 percent of the total online sales for Thanksgiving and Black Friday in the US, nearly four times Android’s pathetic 6 percent,” Evans reports. “Similar data from Adobe, which claims iOS users drove 79 percent of mobile sales revenue while Android users generated 21 percent.”
