iPhone 6/Plus preorders outpace Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in South Korea

“Is Apple Inc.’s smartphone market share set to increase in Samsungland? Presales figures for the U.S. company’s latest, large-screen models in South Korea suggest so,” Min-Jeong Lee reports for The Wall Street Journal.

“Analysts estimate total presale figures for the new iPhones have reached roughly 100,000 units, which tops an estimated 30,000 units for the Galaxy Note 4 over a similar time frame,” Lee reports. “A spokesman for LG Uplus confirmed that the pace of the presale for the Galaxy Note 4 phone hadn’t been as fast — thus far — as for the iPhone 6 and the 6 Plus.”

“‘There are concerns that Samsung will lose its only advantage, which has been its large screen sizes,’ said Lee Seung-woo, an analyst with IBK Securities in Seoul,” Lee reports. “In the fourth quarter, Mr. Lee reckons the shipment figures for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 pair versus the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus pair could be drastically different, with the latter outselling the former by at least five times, globally.”

  1. Let the carnage begin; it appears that attempting to lock down their home market before iPhone 6 went on sale was a “failed” attempt. We welcome South Korea to the Apple brand.

  2. That is funny. The fall of Blackberry in Canada, Nokia in Finland (I think) and now Galaxy in South Korea. Anyone looking at the sale of Mac OSX computers VS. Microsoft Window boxes in Washington yet?

Anyone seeing a pattern yet? Boom!

Don’t forget the clusterfucked Android skin with its ludicrous multitasking panes and resizable windows! 😛

  4. globally people are much less likely to own the quint – the HDTV, mac, iPad, Apple TV and iPhone – and much more likely to rely on their smartphone for all these needs. The 6 Plus is the best swiss army knife to replace all these devices and will sell well beyond expectations.

5x Globally? Didn’t he really mean to say “10x Globally”?
