Oppenheimer upgrades Apple to Outperform; sees iPhone 6/Plus as major success

“Oppenheimer upgraded Apple from Perform to Outperform with a price target of $115,” StreetInsider reports. “Analyst Andrew Uerkwitz expects the iPhone 6/6 Plus to be, by far, Apple’s most successful phone launch.”

We believe iPhone 6 and 6 Plus combined will be the best selling iPhone generation to-date as iOS 8 and larger displays draw much broader consumer appeal than before—ultimately growing Apple’s market share. (risk: sales are so good, next gen iPhone sales decline year-on-year). We believe iPhone 6 and iOS 8 will bring important features to AAPL’s overall ecosystem that increases user stickiness: 1) Apple Pay, 2) HealthKit and Health App, and 3) integration between OS X and iOS, and 4) HomeKit. We believe these will drive market share gains. – Oppenheimer analyst Andrew Uerkwitz

  1. I don’t like this stupid ANALYST chatter – “risk: sales are so good, next gen iPhone sales decline year-on-year”

Expanding sales infrastructure and VERY sticky ecosystem is in place. Apple has headroom for growth over the next 5 years to mature into an iPod like market – though much longer lived as other companies have failed to innovate at the pace of apple.

  2. Mine showed up last night. Hooray! I immediately bent the crap out of it to confirm that it was indeed genuine. I think I might have sprained my thumb. Then I sent it back with a note that said, “WTF Apple? I got injured bending this phone. Please send a new one or there will be a class action law suit.”

No seriously, it works great. It worked so great I didn’t notice I hadn’t upgraded to 8.0.2. No problems with WiFi, Finger Print Recognition, nothing. WiFi speeds constantly exceed 100Mb/s (my download speed cap).

It is large, but not nearly as unwieldy as I had been led to believe. It’s very light. It “feels” lighter than the 5s, but that’s impossible so its an illusion of the weight spread over a longer surface.

And it fits completely in my shirt pocket.

Watching video is extremely pleasant on it. I no longer feel my HTC ONE M8 is the superior media device. The speaker is quite loud, which is nice, but not as nice as the two front facing speakers on the HTC. Still the larger speaker provide a much better sound quality. Siri sounds more womanly.

It appears to charge as fast as my 5s, which is something I don’t think I ever heard anyone mention about the 5s. Mine would charge to 100% very quickly. I could plug it in at 3% or 4% go walk the dog, shower, and it was at 100% ready to go.

When I got it, I just plugged in my old sim card, put in my Apple ID, and the magic of iCloud worked flawlessly. It synched up, contacts, pictures, (all my nude selfies were there), keychain, safari bookmarks, notes (I use the crap out of Apple’s notes), calendars, reminders, and mail.

    Not a single glitch, hiccup.

I began loading apps back. I mostly have network analysis tools and news apps. I have a folder where I keep all of the Google stuff called GoogleGhetto. I played with Voice Activated Google, which I have to admit works better for searching than Siri.

I then watched a video of a scientist using formal logic to prove that we live in a computer simulation and 34 minutes later I was actually convinced. I mean when you break it down it really does make way more sense than anything else which is rather upsetting actually.

This is the iPhone I’ve been wanting. No more big screen envy. And considering that was the primary feature Android phones had going for them, I see much stress and consternation in House Droid for the foreseeable future. I predict rock bottom prices for Samsung phones in particular and poor HTC, i’m not sure what they might do. They should remove all sharp objects in the respective CEO’s offices.
