Hands-on with a functional 4.7-inch iPhone 6 clone (with video)

“A functional ‘Wico6’ iPhone 6 clone has made its way into a detailed hands-on video published by YouTuber Danny Winget,” Dom Esposito reports for 9to5Mac. “This functional clone mimics Apple’s iPhone in almost every way possible, all the way down to the packaging and accessories. So what’s the big deal? Apple clones pop up all of the time. Well, the Wico6 is designed to look like all of the iPhone 6 dummies we’ve seen up to the point.”

“This ‘fully functional’ device does work as a smartphone (SIM card slot and all), but it’s not running iOS,” Esposito reports. “Much like Goophone’s i6 copycat device, the Wico6 runs a skinned version of Android that’s designed to look like iOS. There’s nothing fancy here as far as specifications go, but it’s surprising how far this company went in terms of design and user interface to make a functional clone.”

    1. Spark, call it as you may, yet lets say the casing has Apple markings and measures exactly to Apple specs, this is a Sad day for Tim. Clone or not… the leaks have gotten too far.

      1. Disregard leaks, they only speed the inevitable. Apple could make iPhones in a top secret cave in Montana and unscrupulous Chinese counterfeiters would have knock-offs on the street within a month of their introduction.

        1. Within a day, I would think. That is, if counterfeiters obtain true parts that are actually from Apple approved prototypes. And that is why Tim’s head must roll.

      2. It’s not a clone at all. That would be like calling a cheap imitation plastic handbag that has “similar size and shape and color” (but none exactly the same) a clone of a top of the line name brand handbag. They’re not even in the same ballpark let alone a clone.

And, in no way is this a “leak”. This is just someone using a phone with something close to the *guessed* screen size (and absolutely no knowledge of screen resolution, screen bit depth, color gamut, etc.) and approximate size overall and putting onto it software that is the person’s *guess* at what the final version of the OS will look like and operate like.

        1. It has been noted that the casing is possibly the real case that Apple plans to use.

It also mimics what iOS8 and iOS7 function like.

The PowerPC clones looks NOTHING like Apple designs STILL it used the same chip — CLONE.

  1. Since the iPhone 6 doesn’t officially exist, and it’s not copying anything more than the cosmetics of iOS and the generally design language of the iPhone I don’t get why this is really a story.

    1. Well, if in fact the housing and dimensions are correct, (possibly the actual product) and then to interface it with an Android skin that looks and feels like iOS7 or iOS8 – it is a clone – more so theft. Parts, measurements, design, styling, loot and feel of an OS – on what Apple has been planning.
THEN THIS IS A HUGE LEAK. Sad day for Tim if so. APPLE SHOULD FIRE HIM.

  2. Want it thinner then this.

    Not a Saphire screen.
No finger print security – one touch access.
    No Siri.
    No A8 chip.
    No iOS8.

Very sad to see a device copy Apple to this degree.
Big lawsuit if these continue to sell when the actual product arrives.

Big question, where did you get it and why did you buy it?
This is no different then piracy. Tim isn’t doing enough to stop this sort of business.

fun for a day – clone – booooooo
