“Apple released a minor bug fix for iTunes 11.2.1 tonight following yesterday’s release of iTunes 11.2 alongside OS X 10.9.3,” Zac Hal reports for 9to5Mac.
The release notes echo yesterday’s updated features, but installing the update does indeed fix the hidden ‘/Users’ folder many users were experiencing,” Hall reports.

OS X 10.9.3: Why is the /users folder hidden for some users, but not all users? – May 16, 2014
Ooopsies!
But Apple fixes it fast.
What’d you call them…?
Ehhh, that’s just a lame way for kids to insincerely (and unapologetically) say “oops!” As if they know they made a mistake.
In this case, Apple quickly and made good on their mistake (“oops!”). So I’m just poking fun at them 🙂
Yes, but I was implying you called them something else
(that is similar in enunciation…)
😉
TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. From the release notes for iTunes 11.2.1:
Rumored to restore visibility of the Users folder
“RUMORED” <– Apple said that. What the HELL are they doing over there?! This is coding gone oblivious.
So has anyone gotten this rumored fix to actually work? I’d like to know (having programmed in the workaround, so I’m already set).
Oh of course and let’s point out the /Users/Shared folder isn’t even mentioned in the notes. I hope these coding geniuses took care of that problem as well.
Well, I’m not sure what really happened, but this update finally (finally!!) let me get rid of some ‘ghost’ files that continued to show up in my iPhone Library but that I had deleted continually for months with no success.
I have a 3:00 pm CDT appointment at the Genius Bar. Now iTunes won’t open; the iTunes button just bounces up and down and gives me a “iTunes quit unexpectedly” box with the string of crash information.
The Genius checked the problem out and downloaded and installed iTunes again. The MBP works fine now. Thank you Apple Genius.
Here is a slightly more superior description of the iTunes 11.2.1 update which I received by email:
A local user can compromise other local user accounts Description: Upon each reboot, the permissions for the /Users and /Users/Shared directories would be set to world-writable, allowing modification of these directories. This issue was addressed with improved permission handling. For information on the general content of iTunes 11.2.1, see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5434
And… this permissions blunder made them INVISIBLE because WHY?!
Following the provided link Apple provided, we arrive at an explanation about the invisibility problem, which neglects to mention the permissions problem. Incoherence at Apple is highly evident:
OS X Mavericks: Users folder isn’t visible after updating to iTunes 11.2
Symptoms
The folders listed below might appear to be missing after installing iTunes 11.2 on OS X Mavericks. This can happen if you have Find My Mac enabled in iCloud System Preferences.
Folders affected:
/Users
/Users/Shared
Resolution
Update to iTunes 11.2.1 or later by running software update on your Mac.

Apple really needs to get their software quality assurance in order.
On my mid-2010 iMac with OS 10.9.3, the App Store shows no updates available. My iTunes is at 11.2 not 11.2.1. This update must be hardware specific.
Also, I didn’t have the hidden User folder problem. Or any other problem except iTunes still doesn’t support multiple windows like a real Mac application.
