Apple working on Siri for future Apple TV device, iOS 7.1 code reveals

“Code found within the iOS 7.1 SDK suggests that Siri is headed to the Apple TV in [the] future,” Benjamin Mayo reports for 9to5Mac. “Pierre Blazquez first found the reference on Friday.”

9to5Mac has since confirmed that the code does exist in both iOS 7.1 and iOS 7.1.1′s files,” Mayo reports. “The reference does not exist in 7.0.6.”

Mayo reports, “Although this particular finding is not evidence of new hardware, it seems likely that Apple will not bring Siri to the current generation of Apple TV, which lacks microphone input.”

  1. But the iPhone and iPod touch *do* include microphones and could be used as a Siri bridge to control the ATV. it is also entirely possible that Apple will release new devices equipped with microphones to serve this purpose (remote control, wearable tech, etc.).

      1. Really? I’ll have to check out what Microsoft is using. Considering the noise going on in a typical living room, including what’s coming out of the display speakers, I’m surprised. Noise remains an enormous problem for voice recognition.
