“The iPhone 5S has been out for more than a week, and the collection of slow motion videos has ballooned in size,” Josh Lowensohn reports for CNET.
Lowensohn reports, “Earlier this week we posted 15 of our early favorites people had shot in their initial weekend with the device.
“Now we’ve put together another 15 that show off what people are doing when slowing down videos to a fourth of their speed,” Lowensohn reports.

These videos look like a bad rip off of Koyaanisqatsi, one of the greatest films of the 1980s. If people nowadays are trying to copy the 80s you guys are failing miserably. The 21st century just can’t compare…You missed out…
WTF?
Three possibilities, your comment was thinly veiled sarcasm that you forgot to tag (/s) or two, you are just (yet another) delusional iHater or perhaps (lastly) you experimented faaaar too much in college.
/h
I’m not an iHater. I love Apple, I just don’t like the 2000s or the 2010s decades. If I hated Apple, then I would not be using the mini vMac emulator to relieve OS9. Besides Android was created in the 2000s. That automatically makes it the worst decade ever.
waaaay too much free time on your hands.
iOS 7 is the biggest piece of shit since Android. No, wait, it’s a bigger piece of shit than Android & WP8. And that’s if I’m being generous. Puke inducing shit.
They keep getting dumber and dumber!
Hey motherfucker you don’t know shit motherfucker motherfucking gay homo shit.
You sou8nd even stupider than he is!
What an idiot
Did a bunch of fucking idiots invade MDN overnight?
This may well be the same guy using different generic nicks. It’s worth keeping in mind around here. 🙁
AHA. It turns out that this guy is a ROBO-TROLL, copy-pasting the same Apple-HATE in several MDN threads. Pathetic. Dickhead.
“OS Critic”- I pity that this is how you choose to use precious moments of a very finite life. Go play with your toys, and don’t forget the bib…
You’re obviously a typical android user based on your comment.
Ignorant, uneducated, self-centred and in denial that you love Apple.
If you weren’t in denial you would care so much to comment on this apple centric website.
Ummm no.
Now just happens to the decade that near professional equipment fits in the pocket of everyday people. People who are out there living life to the fullest “today”.
Perhaps you should give it a try.
You are completely delusional if you really believe that the 80’s and 90’s are the pinnacles of modern era. New Romanticism, really bad haircuts and the fashion, urgh. Bands like Human League, Berlin and other horrors. Rampant homophobia, racism, Ronald Regan, ooh just the thought of those times, (shiver).
I grew up in those times and I would never pine for them to be repeated.
Oh and btw 80’s90’sFan, piss off with your stupid trolling
Guys, in no way is 80s90s fan trying to diss apple. He is dissing the way people are filming with the phone and then putting slow dramatic music to the video, which is what some of Koyaanisqatsi is. I saw most the videos, and I dont mind people filming the crap quality they filmed…but why the hell did CNET pick some of the worst videos I have ever seen, They had horrible framing, someone didn’t know how to convert to a High quality, and some were just boring. and then they had the nerve to write 30 “must-see” videos. 10 minutes i wish i had back quite honestly, except for the magnet one…that one was legit.
IMO, one of the best features of the iPhone 5s is the camera. Should Apple be making their own brand of cameras? I think they used to a long time ago
You are right. They did make a series of digital cameras back in the mid 90s, probably around 1995 or so. I don’t know if they were successful though.
They did make an early digital camera, although it didn’t do too well because of one tiny, little oversight… Apple seemed to have forgotten to build a flash into it. Quite humorous, actually. A point-and-shoot camera without a flag. A friend of mine got one, and we had some laughs about it.
flash not flag. Ugh
It was rubbish, basically a cheap kodak jobbie with apple printed on it.
Another of Sculley’s stupid ideas along with first inkjet printer (a bubbjet canon or something), the newton and a ridiculous product mess no one wanted.
This feature gives me motion sickness. Don’t they test this? Apple fail again.
iWant!
The slow-mo is pretty cool. Did one of a big butterfly the other day…. Silky smooth. Pretty impressive to me
I hope one day they make a slow motion printer.
Dot matrix
The videos of the iPhone 5S getting tortured, by having pop spilled on it, and other methods, actually scared me. It felt like I was watching a techno-fetish bondage film by Stanley Kubrick. But other than that, those videos were great.
I’m in a rush, didn’t go through all the vids in article but there’s one I saw yesterday which is pretty cool by Rishi Kaneria:
Was just about to post this one… it’s absolutely off the charts, I am tempted to upgrade from my 4S just for this feature alone.
Thank you for sharing that. Just beautiful, and astonishing to me that it was shot on an iPhone. I’m noticing how Vimeo is becoming the Apple of online video while YouTube is the Microsoft.
WTF! A video shot on a mobile device that can’t be viewed on a mobile device? What’s up Vimeo?
Awesome !!!
I have my 5s 64 gig lined up for October 1st,
If they’re available ,
Cannot Wait !!!!!!
I got mine on day one, I hope that wasn’t the one you were promised.
Would have received my gold 5s on day two but it had to go from China to Korea to Anchorage, Alaska to Kentucky (to clear Customs) and then back to Anchorage where I live. I could see it from my back yard!
If it’s a Mac Apple than it’s what you want, played around windows and windows based pc and phone and windows sucks
So cool … love it, and love my 5s! 🙂
I have a friend in CA who’s been making slo-mo skate boarding videos for years, with a fairly large high def camera. It’s astounding to think he can do it these days with a little mobile phone. These are the good old days…
I’d say the videos are might-want-to-see.
This is going to be a fantastic training aid. I am a youth baseball and basketball coach. This will enable me to show a batter his swing or a point guard his layup timing immediately. Great job Apple!
