First prepaid iPhone in U.S. arrives on Cricket Wireless June 22; compatible with ‘unlimited’ data plan

“On June 22, Cricket Wireless will become America’s first fully prepaid wireless carrier to offer Apple’s iPhone, with an “unlimited” $55-per-month plan,” AppleInsider reports.

“Cricket Wireless is a prepaid subsidiary of Leap Wireless, which offers ‘unlimited’ data plans under a ‘fair usage policy’ of 2.3 gigabytes per month,” AppleInsider reports. “The small carrier with 6.2 million customers announced on Thursday that it will become the first prepaid carrier in the U.S. to offer the iPhone to its customers.”

AppleInsider reports, “On June 22, Cricket will sell the 16-gigabyte iPhone 4S contract-free for $500, in addition to the 8-gigabyte iPhone 4 for $400. Both will be compatible with the carrier’s ‘unlimited’ $55-per-month talk, text and data plan.”

  1. This is a signal from apple that the new iPhone is coming in June.

Cricket wireless will be selling the iPhone 4s, $150 less than the unlocked price today. This is on June 22.

    1. Not really. Apple did something similar on O2 Germany last spring, dropping the price of the iPhone 3GS from €529 to €375 (or so). I think this is a market test for lower prices, but the next iPhone may still not come before September or October.

    1. No. It is more like: you can drink unlimited amount of Pepsi, but after first 2 litres, you can drink it through this very narrow straw. The amount is no limited; just the throughput.

  2. Somebody sue the shit out of these assholes and send them to cellphone carrier hell! These guys are like two year old children just testing idiots who fall for their criminal behavior and get rich off of false lying advertising!
