  1. why bother with the Indians?? Remember the complete crao they all pulled badmouthing apple about the way their telecom was pricing the iPhones? I say the hell with them. PLus how can they see with the headgear over their face?

    1. if your comments did nog display such pitiful ignorance they could be ignored… However… India is the worlds 4th largest market if measured by volume of those speaking Hindi. In addition OS a huge emerging market.

India’s involvement in all things tech mAke them a a huge source of potential buyers that will keep expanding.

Those in the US would be wise to not underestimate the Indians expertise that will be a huge challenge if we plan to stay number1 in tech

      1. Potential buyers??? Fact of the matter is that nearly 85% people won’t be caring about any opening of the stores. Coz they surely wud not wanna shell out even a minimum of $400 on any of these expensive toys. Atleast not in a city like New Delhi.Only 15% dud even care to buy the iProducts. Apple has been around for nearly 4 decades now in all the European countries and off course the USA. So this India has been the last country they’ve put their focus on. And who cares about the potential buyers. Their potential buyers everywhere around the globe. So in no way that makes India special.. Number 1 in tech?? This country won’t even come #1000 in tech..Okay.. Thank god Apple does not look at any international market as segregated from their US business. And most of the companies don’t.It wud be a pain to see franchisees and other third 3rd party organizations interfering and handling Apple stores in India. Its good that  will be taking full control.

  2. Prohibitive costs due to corruption and red tape:

Anyone who has tried to start a foreign owned business in India knows how many barriers there are to set up and operate. Indian officials are many and have their hands out for bribes and payoffs.

Corruption has nothing to do with poverty but is based solely on a moral choice. These choices that are commonly made in India are to the detriment of the entire country and keep them in poverty in my opinion. I have seen it first hand and am anxiously waiting for India to grow up and leave bribery as a way of life behind her.

Apple can expect that half of the money needed to open a store in India will end up being paid in bribes. I can’t see Apple doing that.
