“Apple has made a subtle change to its App Store app for the iPad today, but subtle though it may be, it makes navigating the store a much nicer, and much faster experience,” Killian Bell reports for Cult of Mac.
“The company has done away with the arrows that were previously used for navigating between a number of pages, allowing you instead to swipe through them — a much more fitting way of navigating through an iOS app,” Bell reports. “Again, it’s a very minor change, but one that makes viewing a number of pages a great deal faster.”

MacDailyNews Take: Hallelujah! Those damnable arrows couldn’t die fast enough!

AMEN MDN.
One small step. It’s still a UI clusterf…
now THIS is how the app store should be on the iPad!
always annoyed me, can scroll up/down… but had to tap arrows for left/right…
That’s what I live about Apple… always tweaking 🙂
Can’t wait to try it out!
It’s about flippin’ time!!!!!
Die app store navigation arrows, die!!!!
Has anyone noticed whether the problem of sending you back to the beginning of the app store still happens if you’re 15 or 20 pages deep into looking at apps?
This was reallly,REALLY aggravating.
Arrows, Shmarrows! Can anyone enlighten me when I am on my iPad and using the app store app and going through the apps listed page by page using the arrows, then I come across an app I may be interested, click to preview, then go back to the app store expecting to start at the same place I left off and damn if I’m not back at the starting point on page one! Now if the interesting app were on page 2 no problem, but if the app is twenty pages deep, kinda pisses me off.
Am I doing something wrong in the iPad app store browsing process??? Please enlighten…
I just posted the same question, then refreshed my page and now I see it’s already been asked.
That’s nice, but I’d like to be able to return to a store page after viewing an app page. I hate getting 20, 30, 50 pages in, go to look at an app, then come back to page 1!!!!! At that point I generally quit browsing the store. Is it not possible to at least store the page number in memory while viewing an app page?????
That is seriously annoying and really bad UI design.
“Finally”, eh?
I haven’t browsed the AppStore on the iPad since I posted the above.
I spoke too soon.
If you search for apps, the arrows are back… Looks like swiping everywhere except search… And that’s where I end up browsing 90% of the time.
App store needs one more update to fix that.
Oh and YES the annoying BS above about the app store losing its place…. That right there has caused me to just quit browsing.
