U.S. Senator John McCain shows off his new Apple iPhone 4S, demonstrates Siri (with video)

“Sen. John McCain whipped out his new iPhone 4S during a hearing on the Postal Service on Wednesday,” Matt Sobocinski reports for Politico.

Sobocinski reports, “Discussing changing technology, McCain demonstrated how easy it is to dial his wife with the device. ‘Call Cindy,’ he said into the phone. ‘That’s all you have to do anymore. Now even I can figure that one out.'”

Sen. Joe Lieberman then teased McCain…

      1. The only campaign promise McCain made was that he would persecute those that got the country into the financial mess. Fortunately, we elected someone who made a million promises (whatever you wanted to hear), and hired as advisors those who directly designed the repeal of the Glass-Steagal Act that started the housing bust and the same people that wrote TARP to benefit themselves with billions through AIG, and that guide the policy of US dollar destruction.

      2. McCain, a former American hero dishonored himself and his country by betraying his own potential and inflicting Sarah Palin on the world. He is a hypocritical jerk and doesn’t deserve an Apple product. The only thing he’s right on is his stance on torture- which his sellout and Palin’s mouth inflict on a regular basis. In short, they both make… me… SICK.

    1. Ah, it would not have been such a malaise if the ‘right’ choice had been made in 2001 instead of setting in motion ‘free-market’ economic shams and unwarranted and unjustified wars for oil costing too many lives of citizens, among other things.

        1. You’re simply wrong. Complex world- complex problems- demaning complex solutions- demanding stopping with the endless sloganeering. Get with it. Don’t be a dummy. I don’t care where you stand politically. Just don’t be a dummy.

        2. It was during the Clinton administration that the banks were forced to start making loans to people who were bad risks. Because loans were easy to get, home prices were driven up to ridiculous levels. And when people have no investment in a home, easy to walk away. And the banks are getting bailed out on the whole mess because it was the government that forced them into making high risk loans. In the past they knew better than to make loans to people with zero down payment.

        3. What a load of crap!

Was it government that forced banks to create complex derivatives?

To misrepresent the risk in the investment packages they were selling?

Im sure it was the government who told them to sell packages of risky investments marked AAA and then effectively bet against their own customer by taking out insurance against the customer defaulting.

Im sure the government made mistakes (it always does) but really pull your head out of your @ss for a moment and stop trying to shift blame from your worthless rich buddies that played this country like a casino.

      1. Betcha, get that… a little Palin speak to aggravate morons who voted for that VACILLATING MESS “Occupying” the WH along with his sidesick Joe “Bite Me” Biden, I betcha 14 (to 17 million) out of work would disagree with your choice!

    2. These last few years have been nothing but a bunch of bitter republicans playing a school yard tactic (probably about 4th grade level) of just trying to make things as difficult for the other party as possible. They try to distant the issues, and aren’t interested in compromise. Obama should have been more politically savvy, but he tried.

      1. Don’t count him out. During the presidential campaign, President Obama did promise of himself, “we need a leader who can finally move beyond the divisive politics of Washington and bring Democrats, independents and Republicans together to get things done.”. He just needs another 4 years to create utopia.

    3. There are no simple answers to complex questions. NO politician changes that fact. Don’t glibly assert that the man in the White House is just a suit. Don’t glibly assume that this old man gets it. 5% of the population controls 95% of the wealth. It’s been that way for more than 100 years. You are a pawn. You are not part of the 95%. Sorry.

    4. When Senator McCain demonstrated the incredibly bad judgement of picking SP for his running mate, he eliminated himself from contention. In spite of what I think of some of Obama’s failings, I had no choice of who to vote for and think I did the right thing at the time.

It’s too bad that Obama received the most toxic Presidential hand-off in history and it’s too bad he blew it.

    5. I had a good friend who was a died-in-the-wool Republican. From dogcatcher to President, he’d put the sign of every Republican candidate in his front lawn come election season.

Except 2008. The McCain – Palin sign stayed on his back porch.

He passed away earlier this year, and I never had a chance to ask him what that was about.

      1. Exactly.

While I admit that I call him McLame a lot of the time, I can’t deny his sacrifices he has made.
I knew i’d find the reason I mentioned his typing skills once I got home.

Regardless of your stance on him, watch the movie based off his book. (Or read the book, Faith of my Fathers)
the term “Hero” does tend to get thrown around on undeserving people a lot anymore, but not on McCain.

I do like him, I just disagree with half of his politics though. I understand where he’s coming from, I just don’t agree with him.

And for those that do not know, He and Lieberman are pretty close friends. Thats why he mentioned the hand written note.
Same goes for Lieberman as with McCain really, Lieberman’s politics I agree with some of it. I think he’s even more Hawkish on Defense than McCain is…

  1. iPhone are Officially not cool any longer.

    Just kidding.

But at least we can see why Apple products are the best out there.

If the angry old man can use one it must be insanely great.

      1. The Yankee psyche is amazing. A man who kills a lot of people and gets caught and imprisoned is a hero. The true heroes are those who travel the world spreading democracy and education. The truest heroes are those who welcome immigrants to the US and let them learn first hand what it is like to create and maintain a democracy.

On the other hand, those who see the world as a danger to the US and not an aid, who see the solution to the world’s problems in military might, who won’t share the knowledge of the US universities to the world except to the very wealthy are to be viewed in history as ignorant beyond any measurable scale.

        1. “Kills a lot of people”
And there’s your ignorance, viewed by history as beyond belief…

Aaaand you are anti-wealth. Did you learn that in school? Here in the USA we have the Yankee psyche – where ever you are, you clearly have your psyche, yanked.

  2. Am I the only one who finds it incredibly offensive that the MDN editor refuses to address Obama as President Obama, but gives every republican politician the proper respect of using their title?

    1. Agreed. But you do realize that (1) MDN always finds any slim connection to Apple/technology to interject politics into what should be a non-political forum; and (2)MDN is an absolute dyed-in-the-wool believer in the Tea Party koolaid?
