“Apple has updated the firmware for Apple TV to version 4.4.2 about a week after pulling and releasing for a second time the earlier 4.4.1 update,” David W. Martin reports for Cult of Mac. “The earlier update provided a some bug fixes and if we were to guess this one probably does too.”
Martin reports, “[An] Apple support document… tells you to reset all the settings on your Apple TV which will effectively clear out all your login ids, passwords, etc. This will force you to reconfigure everything after the update. Apple apologizes for the inconvenience so I’m thinking we won’t see this problem again.”

This may not relate technically to Apple TV, but look at this headline from the LA Times. People are not happy and voted with their wallets!
“Netflix loses more U.S. subscribers than predicted
Shares of Netflix plummet 27% in after-hours trading after it reports a loss of 800,000 U.S. customers in the third quarter, more than the 600,000 it told investors to expect.”
from tidbits here and there that i hear.. they have like 4 million or so subs before the price debacle.. 800k would be about 25% give or take.. ouch.
and count me as one of them.. well, I still have the streaming but no more dvd’s. stripped it all down to the bare minimum.
They have 23 to 24 million subscribers. So, while 800,000 is a lot to lose, it’s not a large percentage of their current user base. Plus, their earnings grew 63%.
ahh I just saw that.
the same story said they added 4 million subs in the last quarter… I see where I got the 4 million now.
I never followed the netflix debacle that close, I just said FU to the new prices with DVD’s and streaming and moved on.
me too.
Not exactly breaking news – they’ve been losing subs and share price for a several weeks.
“Shares of Netflix plummet 27% in after-hours trading” is today’s news.
um.. really dude?
You realize nothing was concrete on sub numbers until they reported it at earnings, right? let me guess- you’re the patsy who sells on unsubstantiated rumors?
” tells you to reset all the settings on your Apple TV which will effectively clear out all your login ids, passwords, etc. This will force you to reconfigure everything after the update. ”
I hope it’s once…
It is a bit of a pain that the thing you would really want to use an iOS as a keyboard for is the thing you have to do in order to allow you to.
To eliminate any chance of anything going wrong, do a restore on your Apple TV and it will automatically get the update too.
If you have jail broken your Apple TV you will have to restore using the micro USB cable more than likely.
