“The first thing that strikes you about Apple’s latest smartphone is how it is virtually indistinguishable from its previous model,” Dwight Silverman reports for The Houston Chronicle. “The iPhone 4S is a dead ringer on the outside for the iPhone 4.”
“But once you start using it, the differences are clear, and in some cases dramatic,” Silverman reports. “It’s noticeably faster overall, and the Safari Web browser is jaw-dropping in its speed.”
“The iPhone 4S has the same A5 processor, developed by Apple, as the iPad 2,” Silverman reports. “As a result, it’s more responsive than the iPhone 4, something you notice almost from the start. Apps open quickly, and tasks are performed almost instantly.”
Silverman reports, “The 4S’s browser scrolls through these pages very smoothly, more like a desktop than a mobile browser. Note that this same browser is included in the iOS 5 upgrade available to iPhone 3GS and 4 owners, and it’s also faster on those phones . . . but not like this. Whoa.”

Imagine, having to walk around and have people think you’re Balmy Ballmer. Worse, though, probably, is going along with the gag.

How are those WP7 smartphones selling? Let’s put it this way. Apple probably sold more iPhone 4Ss in an hour than Microsoft and partners have sold WP7 smartphones to date. Now that is pathetic.
I got mine today. speed is amazing. I streamed a movie from netflix it was so fast I could not believe it. I tried it on a couple of movies just to be sure. browsing the same. I’m really amazed!
only thing I’m perplexed is siri. some problems there. not sure related to what. the first 10 min I activate the phone it could basically read my mind. after that nothing worked anymore. anyone the same?
Noticed this happening with maybe she’s not the first girl to be done with you after 10 minutes? 😉
major difference is that I have a volume button for siri. wish had one for my girlfriend!
update! today siri works perfectly
guys if you don’t have the new 4s, this thing will blow your mind! it is insane. even if you have a foreign accent like in my case no problem at all. how they do it a mistery to me.
Maybe she’s not that into you …..
Maybe my 4S is broken. I upgraded from my iPhone 2 and my experience hasn’t changed. The battery was dying, so I feel like I got a battery upgrade.
Browser speed? Very similar. I load pages and read them. Just like I did with iPhone 2.
Siri? I havent been able to schedule a single thing that didn’t need to be manually edited to be viable. I have yet to have her say “sorry, I didn’t get that” with any first command. The headphone button doesn’t work. It doesn’t tell me anything about receiving a text- I basically look at the text then I can ask her to read what I just looked at. Replying back hasn’t worked, at least not remotely what I said.
