Apple: No live webcast of October 4th ‘Let’s Talk iPhone’ special event

“There will be no public webcast of Tuesday’s iPhone event, Apple PR representatives have confirmed,” iPodNN reports.

“Apple has not always offered live streams for product presentations, but an equivalent one in September 2010 was publicly broadcast,” iPodNN reports. “Tomorrow’s event is scheduled to start at 10AM Pacific time, or 1PM Eastern.”

iPodNN reports that there will be “a private TV feed being arranged for European journalists, [but] the signal is being directed solely to the UK.”

    1. Not really. If you always broadcast live every time then editors won’t spend the money to send reporters, and an empty house looks bad. Those editors that told their reporters to stay home and “just watch it on your laptop” will learn their lesson.

    1. They do this to get maximum press coverage. Being invited to the live event is a perk for special reporters. This gives them time to file their stories and light the viral fires. It has nothing to do with Apple afraid of performances or a desire to edit the recording. Strictly maximizing the PR. It works, too!

  1. Theyve got to make sure the “new guy” looks and sounds okay. Tidy it up, release the Keynote address with (proper edits) to the world.
Maybe Tims 2nd Address will be live
    🙂

    1. Yeah, sure. Like if Cook starts to stutter or drool uncontrollably the bloggers and news people won’t report it. Duh. It couldn’t be something as simple as not being able to get a venue on late notice.

  2. Come on folks… They USUALLY don’t show it live. And I’m reading the text summary of the presentation. I always watch it when Apple provides a link to the video later.

  3. Its Apple’s “show”, they can do what they want! If Apple listened to every cry and whimper on how they should operate, they’d of failed long ago. Like all the rest!

  4. And these live casts are how I make my decision on buying it or not.

Well, either apple is greedy and wants you to buy a ticket or dont watch it at all or Tim Cook does not want his first conference to be publicized.

    1. I don’t think you can buy a ticket.
There hasn’t seen a livecast in sometime.
What Apple products have you purchased based upon a livecast.?

Do you have any clue about Apple?

  5. ok, we know Apple will release the video of the event afterwards.. maybe like someone said with some editing. there WILL be a video from Apple (SJake 🙂 ) but Apple is not going to be streaming it live.

but.. I just saw that quickpwn will have some live video feed..

    http://www.quickpwn.com/2011/10/watch-october-4-new-iphone-announcement-live-event-online.html

In case MDN or anyone else is afraid to click the link or anything, quickpwn is pretty much a MDN for the Jailbreak scene. They are harmless really, and If you jailbreak or follow the jailbreak scene… you should have heard of them.

Now, will the “feed” be real? dunno, may just be a guy in the event with a camcorder posting it online.. IF Apple doesn’t block it that is.

I just reread the Article, They are going to be posting Engadget and gdgt’s streams.. I remember last year Engadget said they would be streaming the event, but I think Apple shut them down..
So, no guarantees the link will work tomorrow.. Just passing on what I found.

And i have never heard of gdgt before..

  6. it’s like knowing that you are going to have a kid but don’t want to know if it is a boy or a girl… The best is to wait and enjoy the excitement that the parents are bringing us.
