Apple to wipe beta testers’ data as company prepares for pre-iPhone 5 iCloud launch

“Apple last night warned iTunes Match iCloud beta testers that it will delete their libraries on Monday, September 26 at 10am PST,” Jonny Evans reports for Computerworld.

“This will mean users will lose access to their libraries until the service launches once again at some indeterminate point,” Evans reports. “The company has also moved to reset its iCloud services accounts for beta testers on September 22, as the company moves to deliver its iCloud services Golden Master.”

Evans reports, “These actions come as the company is understood to be preparing for an early October launch event for the new iPhone(s).”

  1. On a mostly unrelated note, AT & T sent me a text yesterday saying my messaging plan had been updated to “Family Messagin Unlimited with Mobile to Any Mobile Calling” at no additional cost. I will have to look up what that even means! They’re desperate to keep customers on the eve of Sprint getting the iPhone, it seems.

    1. Really? Yesterday? I find it interesting that you just got that. We have had that for months. They have also twice added 1,000 anytime minutes to my account. I thought that was standard family plan package. I don’t know how desperate AT&T is, kind of looks like Verizon is the desperadoes now.

    2. Just to let you know, in case you weren’t aware, we can now simply type AT&T normally–the way mother-nature had intended for us to intuitively achieve, courtesy of the new MDN format.

      Having said that, here’s keeping my fingers crossed that the & sign doesn’t get twisted on this post. That would be bad/sad. 😛

        That said, the whole thing seems asinine. I just hope not of the beta testers need to sync their devices between 9/26 and 10/4.
