“Hewlett-Packard gave up on the tablet market yesterday in what many saw as a surrender to the industry’s king – Apple,” Lucas Shaw reports for The Wrap.
“Steve Jobs’ company is more than ready to extend its domination,” Shaw reports. “The Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple is constructing the latest version of its tablet, the iPad 3, in preparation for an early 2012 launch. Apple has already begun to order parts for 1.5 million units, and reports are that the new tablet will have an even higher resolution display.”

Shaw reports, “Android tablets have come out, but none have made a dent in the market… There have also been rumors that Amazon is coming out with a tablet of its own in the fall. No matter how many competitors come out with their own tablet, they will all be in pursuit of Apple.”

Seriously?
Making the best for the world deserve to be the leader !!
I’m shocked! Who would have guessed.
I love my 1st Gen iPad, and am constantly finding new apps that make it more useful. I’ve been eyeing the iPad 2, but I’ll try and hold off until the next version comes out. Then Ill either get the new one (most probable), or get the iPad 2 for less.
Now, my MBP stays home most of the time, and the iPad is my mobile device of choice (with my iPhone 4). Just this week I did a Keynote presentation on the road that was as good as the Mac version, simple to add animations and media, and worked seamlessly with the video out adapters.
I’ll probably get the 3G version next time, though. I’m still hesitant to surrender my iPhone’s unlimited data plan so I can add tethering…
Same here. I’m holding out for a Retina style display.
Don’t surrender anything. I have unlimited on my iPad and don’t plan on giving it up. I got rid of my MBP 17 and replaced it with an Air. Now, if rumors are true, I can finally get an iPhone and have a trifecta.
He needs to clarify. They will all be in distant pursuit of Apple. Apple is on generation 3. These guys have rushed to production beta units, hoping for a miracle. Not gonna happen.
Their best bet is to get a stack of business cards from Apple Marketing to hand to their customers as they have their final meetings with them. To sort of leave the customer with on a positive note.
Comment ratings?! Now this is interesting…
Should be a kick on political posts.
At least they are learning to stop calling any Apple competition the presumptuous title of iPad “killers” since the “killer” is so far always the “killeee.”. No more advance killer designations please until the deed is actually done and so far it’s Apple who has laid waste to their competition in Conan The Barbarian style. It’s a Bloodbath all right.
Why do people think an Amazon tablet will make a difference? It’ll be ugly, expensive and slow. Haven’t they looked at how the Kindle came to market?
It won’t make a jot of difference to Joe Public but it will to Amazon because they will list it as the #1 bestseller even though it’s #249 down in the rankings.
It’s good when you can rank your own products number #1 and analysts actually believe it. I still think that even if Amazon only manages to sell a million of their coming tablets, Wall Street will be jumping for joy and boosting Amazon’s price target price by $50 or so while downgrading Apple due to fierce Android tablet competition. /s
F*ck those Wall Street and hedge fund crooks. Let’s see how low they can take Apple’s share price down. It’s already reaching February lows.
Amazon has never released statistics on how well the Kindle is selling. Perhaps they’re following the TouchPad and Galaxy Tab formula of smoothly selling into the sales channel.
The incident that brought AAPL to $338 in February was Libya’s revolution.
Amazon needs to improve it’s Kindle feature set, but it knows it can’t compete head-to-head with Apple. It also can’t develop a full OS, so it has to go with something cheap.
iPad Killers should now be called Edsels, after the notorious failure:
Samsung EdselTab 10.1
Rim EdselBook
Microsoft EdselSlate Home Edition
How about Hannibal Lecter Tab, the notorious serial killer, since the iPad seems to have serially killed so many copy cats.
Apple=best thing that ever happened 🙂
I’m waiting for the nincompoop analysts and Apple manipulators to start downgrading Apple based on their projections that all consumers will stop buying the current iPad 2 for the rest of the year in order to wait for the iPad 3. They’ll have find some way to pull down Apple’s share price even further than it already is. The idiot analysts were all wrong about iPad competition but they’re not ready to give up yet in trying to tear Apple down.
WTF!
I think Amazon is the only company that has a shot at being successful because they have a satisfied kindle customer base and deals in place from content providers of movie and music. I don’t think the movie studios want to be tied to apple and end up like the music labels. This gives them a big foot in the door with both consumers and content providers. The make or break for their tablet will be apps. time will tell but theyay be the next Android.
What, iTunes saved the music labels.
A new iPad Q1 2012! One that’s better than the last one and has that feature everyone has been talking about since the last one came! I’m shocked!
This is just another guy trying to guess stuff. No on knows when ipad3 will show up. It’s apples game.
Ipad3 was suppose to be out 3 tikes this year, nothing happened.
The thing is, ppl will go on guessing till it’s out.
And I’m not sure Regina display… That might hurt the performance and deduce battery life. So I’m not sure how smart it is to make ipad3 retina.

Wait. All the other rumors said the iPad 3 was coming out this year. I sure wish Apple would make up their mind.
