Apple, China Mobile reportedly hope to launch iPhones as soon as possible

“China Mobile said it hoped to launch Apple iPhones soon to accelerate uptake of high-end 3G services as it reported first-half profit at the top end of expectations,” Lee Chyen Yee and Huang Yuntao report for Reuters.

“The world’s largest mobile operator by subscribers said it has met with Apple chief executive Steve Jobs several times on introducing an iPhone based on its home-grown TDSCDMA network standard,” Yee and Yuntao report. “The companies hope to launch an iPhone as soon as possible, China Mobile’s Chairman Wang Jianzhou said, without giving any timeframe.”

  1. “China Mobile said it hoped to launch Apple iPhones…”

Except the concept of “i” is unacceptable within the Chinese Communist Party. They considered the name ‘Wi’ phone, but ‘Wi’ was taken. Calling it the ‘We’ phone sounded too much like ‘wee wee’, a French term.

Therefore, they’ll be calling it the:
COMMUNIST CITIZEN INTERNET ACCESS CENSORSHIP GREAT CULTURAL REVOLUTION PHONE

The Apple logo is also unacceptable within the Chinese Communist Party as it represents the concept of ‘knowledge’, long considered a dangerous commodity within any criminal state. Therefore, they will be covering over the Apple logo with cute little pictures of dearly departed Chairman Mao drawn in the style of Hello Kitty.

    LMAO 😆

  2. I wonder if Apple knows that not all China Mobile users are subscribing to their home grown TDSCDMA but instead is still using 2G? As far as I’m aware of, if they want 3G Internet connection, they will go for China Unicom. Guess China Telecom is trying to make use of apple iPhone5 to increase the subscription rate for their home grown service.
