Seesmic, which works in browsers, on mobile devices, and on desktops lets users update and view multiple social networks within a single app. Seesmic today posted the following notice, verbatim:
Blackberry users, we have important news we would like to share:

We encourage those effected by this change to try out Seesmic for Android, iOS and Windows Phone 7, as well as Seesmic Desktop and Web.

MacDailyNews Take: RIM BloodBath.
The dominos are falling down for RIM.
Now this one…Windows Phone 7? lol
Winblows 7 will be next to fall. Don’t worry.
And, Android is first on the list only because it’s in alphabetical order.
When did Windows Phone 7 ever get up to fall down? I seriously doubt Microsoft have made a single dime of profit from it. Instead they relentlessly blow money on marketing the hell out of it and blow money on dying companies like Nokia in hopes that somehow they can make Windows Phone 7 viable, able to be more than yet-another red line on Microsoft’s books.
So yesterday I visited my first Microsoft store, in the Mall of America facing the Apple Store. 35 customers in the former 75 in the latter.
While I was there I saw my first Windows 7 phone. And my first impression was too much processor/battery sucking animation. My second was poorly organized.
It just hasn’t been RIM’s week, has it?
Seismic
Scanning the headlines on the MDN home page, I thought I spotted a spelling mistake… For a moment there, I was tempted to write in to MDN to point out how to spell ‘seismic’.
But you know what, change the first word to ‘seismic’, make a couple of grammatical corrections and the headline becomes ever more topical as we see this hubris-driven* corporate drama unfold…
Talk about destroying shareholder value with your eyes open.
*hubris on the part of the upper echelon in RIM.
I guess the real reason is that almost no BlackBerry user (business people for the most part) was using their service.
Evolve or die. Maybe RIM should switch gears and become a Rodeo Clown College. Much like the company I work for they would probably be better at training RC’s than they are a technology
I hate it when a company comes out with a press release that exposes some pretty basic faults in their professionalism.
Hardly anyone gets effected by anything. I, on the other hand, am greatly affected by horrific grammar.
D, as we used to tell the copy desk folks
at the newspaper where I worked, “Good catch.”
Is it time once again to try to convince commenters that the word “it’s” is a contraction of the words “it is” and that the possessive of “it” is “its” with no apostrophe?
No, I didn’t think so either!
I guess BlackBerry is always business or executive centric. While iOS is making great success in consumer mobile and later on in business market, I guess RIM is trying to make use of their past success in business market to centre into consumer market, in order to grab a few slices of giant cake of smartphone market.
RIM’s products, to me are really pre-iOS old concepts and trying to disguised themselves in a vast user base of iOS devices as the next gen smartphone or so post-iOS smartphones. However it’s just a copycat model to make it sound better. In fact, it’s just the same old pre-iOS “smart” phone with the redesign of their physical look with the substandard technology trying to compete to lure users into the substandard world by making them believe that they are at the top of the world.
Just my 2-cents.
Yeah, it’s the opposite of the Apple method. “They use this stuff at work, surely they’ll want to use it at home.”
Cause what you want at home is a reminder of work!
Well at first I thought it’s the beginning of the end for RIM. Then I saw that their focus is going to more popular phones like android iOS and WINDOWS 7????? If they think windows 7phone is popular then they have some serious issues
The rusting RIM robot dropped another gear in it’s slow march to the junkyard. This is getting sad to watch. I know! I’ll change the channel…
