I meant that those who didn’t grow up with this technology (the older) might not understand the difference between the iPad and others like the youth of today that were born into Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, etc… The knock-offs pander to this older crowd, such as the commercial with the mom having her son vet the electronics salesman, indicating that older people can trust this company, because young people believe in them… I’m done explaining myself at this time!

loves it. He is a retired professional photographer who has been using computers for years. He loves this device and all the apps offered. Dave, I think you should retract your statement. You too, will be old one day as we all will.

Actually, I was in WalMart yesterday and saw a guy buy out their entire iPad WiFi inventory (it was only two) and ask for more. But he was 40ish. So I guess he knew what he was doing. What exactly is the “WalMart mentality”? Pray tell. I’m interested to know since I’m clearly old, go to WalMart and may be ignorant.
The Walmart mentality is thinking your getting a good deal simply because its cheaper. What Walmartian’s fail to recognize is how it has put Ma and Pa stores out of business, paid their employee’s poorly and has given so many Jobs to those foreign countries so they can keep selling them that cheap stuff. Actually, I’m quite surprised that Walmart even carries a quality product like those produced from Apple. If you really want to help America get out of debt, quit buying from Walmart NOW. Seriously. Not kidding here, Walmart has Mtn Dew for $1, guys across the street sell it for $1.94 at the “Employee owned” store.
Which by the way, you can walk into and find some of the same Chinese crap sold there as well… but at higher prices. Sure walmart has their own brand names, so does the store across the street. and the funny thing… some of those brands are marketed under different names… but made in SAME factory.

I just bought a 32″ HDTV for my office last week. Saved almost $100 by getting it at walmart. the SAME brand everybody else was selling was the old version.. nobody had the new redesigned version. except walmart.. 14lbs vs 18 lbs? side lit instead of back lit? $100 less?

sorry, the “competitor” I work for sells that same 2 liter bottle of soda for .98. That is because our cost is .87. Walmart sells it for 1.00 and their cost is 1.05. They undersell illegally. Meanwhile, any employee that works for us retires as a millionaire. But not at Walmart. Actually, the majority of employees are on a state welfare program because their employer keeps the profits to manipulate the merchants to sell or force to sell their products to them at a lower cost. Once again, you are being manipulated into thinking you are getting good deal by supporting them but ultimately it hurts the economic status of even you. A true employee owed company can offer prices that even Walmart can’t compete with because many distributors are tired of the Walmart stronghold and want to sell their product to other merchants. You only see one side of the equation. Sorry, take a marketing class and learn a little something. Even Apple gets this, they don’t sell their product at a cheap cost to ANY of their retail outlets. Everyone pays the same and everyone retails the same. And they don’t sell cheap crap either. People are starting to understand that you get what you pay for. And yes, I would spend $1.94 vs $1.00 to keep the money on the pockets of the employees that work so hard. But then again, I can afford it and I laugh at your $100.00 savings for your HDTV. I don’t watch TV because I’m too busy studying economics. (My HDTV is 60″ and it was bought at an establisment that pays their employees for what they do and not what they tell you what you deserve) You might have saved $100.00 but that money could have gone towards employee retirement, bonuses, health care, wages, etc. We wouldn’t need government intervention for any of this like we do today. Look at the big picture my friend.
I remember back in the 90’s when Apple was beleagured. The world was telling me that my OS of choice was dying, and I needed to “update” to Windows. I would gave none if that- even as I suffered through extention conflicts and random crashes that brought down the whole system. Why? Because I believed in Macintosh.
Now the shoe is on the other foot. My Windows XP co-workers see no need to upgrade- to Macs or Windows7, because to them, the computer is just a tool. XP is good enough.
They used to call the Mac a toy. As if that’s a bad thing?
I guess everyone just forgot about that whole “Year of iPad 2” thing already…
But wait– I’m still in line for my iPad 2 and it’s already obsolete? Hahaha that is both the blessing and curse of being an Apple fan. I love them because they innovate. And when they innovate often I realize I can’t keep up and I feel like scolding them for innovating so often 😉
Hey Bubba. If your Apple product works it is not obsolete. My late 2006 MBP works better than the day I bought it because I simply upgraded the RAM. It works great so it’s not obsolete.

If you care so much about those stores, just go in and donate $50 a week to them. I’ll just shop at walmart, save, and have extra money to give to apple.
