    1. And that’s exactly why it hasn’t happened yet.
I’d bet that was a stipulation from the networks in the content deal for iTunes. “…and for Christ sake, no f%$@ing apps that can play video!”

    1. My 1st Gen unit is on the kids TV. Then I can fill it and relax the strain on my home net from all the streaming. Even with a fast new AirPort Extreme Dual Band it can get to be a bit much.

  1. Just jailbrek it install xbmc and then install playon on your computer and you have hulu, and CBS, wb a d tons of other sites al streamabke through the appletv.
That’s what I did makes for a great video device.

  2. “Adds an audio output setting for switching to 16-bit audio for compatibility with some TVs and AV receivers.”

Switching to 16-bit audio from what? The original Apple TV always output audio at 16-bit 44.1 kHz (CD quality) but the new one must be outputting something better. If anyone knows, please tell me what the output of the new Apple TV is.

  3. Replaced my Apple TV v1 (the good one with a HD- not the toy iPod hockey puck) with a Mac mini server. Much better.

Don’t have to put up with streaming (v2) or the god awful slow sync (v1).
