Apple granted four Multi-Touch patents

“The US Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of eight newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple. “In our first granted patent report of the day, we focus entirely on four top tier multi-touch patents that cover technology related to multi-touch displays, autocalibration and virtual keyboards.”

Granted Patent:
• Method for Fabricating Thin Touch Sensor Panels
• Double-Sided Touch-Sensitive Panel with Shield and Drive Combined Layer
• Periodic Sensor Autocalibration and Emulation by Varying Stimulus Level
• Keystroke Tactility Arrangement on a Smooth Touch Surface

  1. So far we see no evidence that these patents are of much value. Still waiting for the HTC case to be resolved. In the mean time Android powered phones using (suspected) Apple-patented technology flood the market. I am very interested in seeing the iOS sales and market share numbers for the first full quarter of iPhone on Verizon.

    1. If anything, they are simply “mines” in a ever crowded “mine-field” for Apple competitors. And I concur the Apple quarterly results should prove interesting reading.

    2. 1st Q if anything will reflect if Apple was able to ramp enough supply… there will always be problems in one company supplying a global device(s)…
