“Recently, reports emerged claiming that Apple’s supplies of the current MacBook Pro models were tightening up, and now we have received information that every MacBook Pro model’s stock is constrained at the moment, except the higher-end 13-inch model,” Mark Gurman reports for 9 to 5 Mac.
“We have also heard some chatter about February 9th (Wednesday) being the update day, but we cannot confirm this with any certainty,” Gruman reports.

Innaminnit!
Doubtful with the issues at Intel.
@ Joe,
I agree. Any announcement this week would be an instant Osborne effect.
Apple might have planned an announcement prior to recent issues with the Sandy Bridge support chipsets. However, such an announcement before the last week in February or early March is very unlikely.
I reckon Apple reduced supply of old Mbps and began productiom of Sandy bridge mbps. When fault was revealed Apple was left in cold with strained supply of old mbps and no immediate successor.
They either ride out the shortage and wait for fix, or work around the fault and release the new mbps (is it possible to just use the 6mps ports instead?)
That’s my theory anyway.
They can announce it and just not ship it for a bit
@ ApplePi
“They can announce it and just not ship it for a bit”
Spot on!
They already know when they will (or already have) the fixed chips. Announce now and ship later. Been done many times before.
U ask me?
Or why this retarded headline?
I have no fuxking idea that’s why I read this site ffs…
Ladies and gentlemunchies, THIS is the announcement we’ve all been waiting for.
Mhmm, yes. You better believe it!

Maybe Apple designed a new chip themselves ??????
The repaired Sandy Bridge chip sets are scheduled for release at the end of February. No new MBPs until March, at the earliest. <- Educated guess.
