On Saturday, Apple “updated the backend of their iPad iTunes application to add Ping support,” Mark Gurman reports for 9 to 5 Mac.
“Ping support was added to the iPhone right around the iOS 4.1 launch so this means we’re close to the iOS 4.2 launch,” Gurman surmises.
“The full Ping experience is present as a tab on the iPad iTunes app and it includes your feed, who you follow, who follows you, a look at your profile, and even a section dedicated to concerts,” Gurman reports.

The “Congratulations you won!” audio that plays when you open this page is annoying MDN…
The silence here is deafening.
@Jim – TIV: Click to Flash is your friend
@ Sarasota: What did you say? I couldn’t hear you over my yawning.
Ping? Zzzzzzzz
Actually I find Ping bulky, cluttery, (if that’s a word), confusing, and anti-social. I expected much better from Steve.
I have absolutely no idea what ping is supposed to do or be or anything. Very bad marketing. Someone at Apple will be looking for work soon
They could have picked a better name then ‘Ping’ It sounds like Microslut lingo……..
Wow, ping…cool. Anyway, could you people at Apple please provide us with a “nuke ping from orbit” -button in iTunes preferences while you’re at it?
Ping needs to go away-soon.
@ Jim – TIV,
